It is crazy to think that we are in the final days of this year! For this last Fit Five Friday of 2024, I’m linking up with Marcia has to share a couple of final runfessions before we turn the page to a new year.
Final Runfessions for 2024
I runfess that I’m growing tired of doctors with no answers. Yes that’s my way of telling you I’m still no closer to running!
Actually, I runfess that my goal at this point isn’t even running – I’d just like to be able to power walk for a decent distance without pain.
I runfess that it is much easier to not be running while there’s ice on the ground and frigid temps. I’m happy leaning into strength training during the winter months.
That being said, I runfess that not giving up yet…I have an EMG test scheduled along with an appointment with another orthopedic specialist in January. Onwards!
What’s the longest you’ve gone without running?

I’m so sorry that you’re still no closer to get any answers on your injury. Here’s to getting a proper diagnosis soon! To answer your question, I haven’t run since January 27, 2024, but at least I can walk comfortably and jog across the street if need be.
I’m sorry running is not in the cards for you yet! It is so frustrating to say the least, to not have any answers. I think my biggest running hiatus was back when I partially ruptured my hamstring. Honestly these days I only run a tiny fraction of what I used to and I’m good with that. Life has a way of evolving and we need keep forging new paths. Hugs to you!
I can’t even imagine how frustrated you must be. It’s just not fair. I hope 2025 is the year of answers for you. You deserve them.
I’m so so sorry Michelle. I know how you feel, though my frustration is more with not being able to lose weight and working with specialists, having different meds, doing different tests, etc, and absolutely nothing has changed and no one has any answers for me. Acceptance is clearly not something I’m very good at. It’s so frustrating and I hope that soon you will be able to at least get those power walks in.
Ugh, sorry for the lack of answers! I can only imagine how frustrating is! I haven’t had many running sabbaticals, but the two big ones were after my emergency knee surgery (summer of 2017) and my stress fracture (fall of 2020). Both wrote a couple months in duration, but I was happy to have walking and cycling as my fitness vices to get me through the recovery periods.
Oh, Michelle, I’m so sorry you still don’t have any answers! That’s so frustrating! Hopefully you will have it figured out before the weather gets nicer. 😉
