Runfessions for Black Friday

Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

It’s the last Friday of the month so Marcia has opened the runfessional. It’s also time for another Fit Five Friday hosted by DarleneReneeJennZenaida, and yours truly, so let’s get started.

Runfessions for Black Friday

I runfess that the Black Friday hype just feels silly to me at this point – retailers have been screaming about Black Friday sales since the start of the month – it makes you wonder if these are really the best deals any more.

I runfess that I am feeling the pressure to get going on my holiday shopping especially with one week less than usual between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’m feeling pressure largely because I’m struggling for gift ideas – my boys get harder and harder to shop for as they get older…and my husband is impossible to buy for!

I also runfess that I’d be fine punting on the gifts in favor of putting money towards a larger vacation.

Have you started your holiday shopping?

  1. I agree with all of these.

I’m not doing much since no one needs a thing… just a few things for my granddaughter.

We have decided that spending time together is the true gift.

  2. Deborah Brooks says

Yes, I started taking advantage of the sales weeks ago and I am done except for one. Since we go on vacation together, we don’t do huge holiday gifts for the kids anymore. Happy Thanksgiving

  3. You are picking up exactly what I am putting down. Whatever sales are out there just don’t seem worth the effort. I, too, would rather just go somewhere amazing.

  4. My shopping has started, but my list of “recipients” isn’t too grandiose. Most are wanting cash or gift cards ((#boring)), so most of the shopping is for myself. No guilt, LOL

  5. As the kids get older, spending money on a really cool vacation rather than buying lots of gifts just for the sake of it is a much better use of your time and money. I’ve started my shopping, but that’s about it.

  6. I’m struggling with gift ideas too. I also need a birthday gift for my husband’s December birthday. So far we both have Airpods on our wish lists. I should look for a sale on those this weekend.

I agree that Black Friday sales lose their appeal when they last all month — and what does cyber Monday even mean after a month of on-line Black Friday shopping?

  7. Any “deal” I got for BF dropped days before actual Black Friday and I’m good with that. I’m done shopping for my kids and my mom and Greg and I don’t exchange so I’m pretty much done. I’m all for less stuff and more experiences as well.
