This week’s Fit Five Friday topic is all about gym don’ts. Well, since I haven’t belonged to a gym since 2019, I’m going to pivot.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve enjoyed reading the In and Out lists people have shared, so today I’m adding my five fitness ins and outs list to the mix.
My 2024 Fitness In and Out List
In for 2024:
- Daily stretching/mobility work
- Early morning workouts
- Lifting heavy
- Focusing on protein intake
- Prioritizing sleep
Out for 2024:
- Perfectionism – no more negative self-talk!
- Comparing myself to my past self and others
- Running in pain
- Skipping rest days
- Missing workouts because of work

I am with you on “running with pain” being OUT — even if it means not running. I am so tired of being in pain. 🙁
Your INs are good too!
My trick for not missing a workout due to work is to workout first thing in the morning, so those go together.

Most of our Ins are the same as mine. It is hard not to compare myself to my former self. I certainly struggle with perfectionism as well. Hope we both have a healthier 2024
The comparison thing is so hard for me – as they say, it is the theif of joy.
I don’t have a list like yours but now am thinking of doing one too. I like your list and mine will be similar to yours.

I really like your In and Out list! I am also working on getting more protein and lifting heavy and I also am working on not comparing myself to my past self! I think when it comes to fitness this can be so hard.
I am sure the daily stretching and mobility work will be so good for you! This is also something I am trying to more of.
The comparison thing is so hard, isn’t it?! I’m going to try hard to just focus on celebrating my wins (big and small) this year.
Out – injuries, eating junk, worrying about pace, buying stuff
In- running, racing, walking, hiking, gym workouts, healthy eating, time with friends and family
