Does anyone else feel like Thanksgiving kind of snuck up on them? In general, I feel like the fall has gone by in a blink, but these last few weeks have been a blur.
Now it’s the last Friday of the month which means Marcia has opened the runfessional. It’s also time for another Fit Five Friday hosted by Darlene, Renee, Jenn, Zenaida, and yours truly, so let’s get started.
Black Friday Runfessions
I’m sure that I have runfess this before, but I am not a fan of Black Friday mania. While I love a good deal, I want no part of the frenzied shopping in crowded stores – especially these days. Thanks but no thanks – I’ll stick to shopping from my couch.
And, speaking of shopping, I runfess that I’m am struggling with gift ideas for my teenage sons. Honestly, they have what they want, except for the ridiculously elusive Xbox Series X which is sold out everywhere and has been for months.
While I am usually an early morning runner, I runfess that I have been fully embracing the midday run lately thanks in large part to the weather. We’ve had a string of unseasonably warm afternoons that have been too tempting to pass up (<30 in the mornings vs. upper 50s and 60s in the afternoon). Mother Nature is starting to make it clear that this weather trend is coming to an end, but it was fun while it lasted.
What are you run-fessing? Do you shop Black Friday sales?

I’m with you on Black Friday–I am not a fan of the frenzy either. in fact, I’m working today. I do almost all of my shopping online. I don’t know what to get my boys either. I feel really bad because I didn’t know what to get them for their birthdays last summer too! It definitely gets harder as they get older.
Wendy recently posted…Wet Runfessions
I had the same struggle with my guys with their birthdays too. I was hoping to do something more than gift cards, but it’s probably what they want.
I used to enjoy the Black Friday routine, but in recent years that enthusiasm has really dwindled. My kids just want simple cash these days. Our youngest, when asked what place she’d like a gift card from (for her recent birthday), rolled her eyes and sighed. She told me that she really prefers an actual gift so she can be reminded of the giver every time she wears/uses it. WOW. Of course, her two older siblings would roll THEIR eyes at that.
Wow is right! 🙂 Hard to know which way to go these days, right?
Thing 1 can submit a wish list a mile long while Thing 2 wants nothing. It’s crazy how different they are. I never head out for BF shopping. Online is my jam and I don’t really even have plans to do that we’ll see. Since we walk first, the cold comes like a slap in the face and it makes me wanna wait to run. Enjoy the long weekend!
Mad props to you for sticking with your early morning walks – I just haven’t had the motivation to face those frigid temps!
I’m glad I’m working today. No shopping. We decided to skip gift giving this year. But my kids are old enough to buy what they need.
I thought I would run in the am because it’s light out. But no. Too cold. If I can I run at lunch.
Yep, I think I’ll be sticking with my midday runs as long as the weather cooperates.
I am a happy Black Friday shopper from my Ipad. 🙂 But already availed myself of some good deals pre-Thanksgiving.
Tomorrow is going to be brutal with cold and high winds. I know I should get out there early but . . . stay tuned.
I give thanks that I can (somewhat) run when I want to.
I did snag a couple of pre-Thanksgiving deals too. I’m all in for online shopping 🙂
Hah, that cold meme is so me — at least as far as cycling. I don’t mind the 30s we’ve been having when I’m running.
My struggle with shopping for my kids is I want to get them the more expensive things they can’t afford on their own (like a new iPad), but still want them to have multiple gifts to unwrap, but don’t want to spend money on random stuff they don’t really want … God thing my husband is such a good shopper!
Oh, that’s a nice bonus that your husband is a good shopper! Mine is so not LOL!
I won’t go to a store today but I did find some great deals on some of my faves online yesterday and snapped those up. My husband may kill me if he sees any more running gear come into the house! Once the kids get to that age we usually end up giving them a check. Not fun but practical!
Can you really ever have too much running gear? 😉
No, I never do Black Friday shopping. I’m not absolutely opposed to it, but I always work on Black Friday. I probably wouldn’t go out shopping anyway, unless there was a true bargain- nowadays there are sales all throughout November and December, so Black Friday isn’t necessarily the best day to shop anyway.
Yes, teenagers are REALLY hard to buy gifts for. I’ve been trying to get my kids to tell me what they want all week, and I’m still stumped. Arg!
It does feel like Black Friday promotions have been going on for weeks – kinda dilutes the message, doesn’t it? I’m completely stumped on gifts for my boys. It gets harder and harder to come up with ideas for them every year.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I haven’t done much shopping at all, it all seems so unnecessary these days!
Enjoy the warmer weather while it lasts! I’m not looking forward to winter at all!
I usually prefer the colder weather, but I must admit that I’m not looking forward to the winter weather either this year.
I’m not a big fan of Black Friday either. Any shopping I do is always online. I haven’t don’t Black Friday in the stores for a few years now because people are just so insane!
YES! It totally snuck up.
I’m not a fan of Black Friday either. I did d a little online shopping, but that’s it.
We are getting a lot of fishing gear for A. It’s really hard to shop for teens, especially teen boys.
I agree that teen boys are hard! It’s great that A has a great hobby you can support.
