Happy Friday and welcome back to the Fit Five Friday linkup!
I’m ready to kick off this 4th of July long weekend with a little catch-up over the Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by Coco and Deborah. So grab a mug of your favorite beverage (or perhaps given this heatwave, a tall glass of something over ice!), and let’s chat for a bit!
Over coffee, I would tell you how excited I was to receive a new pair of Glycerins last week! I won them in Dick’s Sporting Goods National Runners Month giveaway back in May and had actually kind of forgotten about them so it was a fun surprise when they arrived!
Over coffee, I would tell you that I hit my 100th Peloton run on Sunday. I don’t always take a Peloton “class” when I run so I had no idea I was closing in on the century mark. It’s always fun to hit a Peloton milestone!
Over coffee, I would tell that Olympic fever has hit our house! We couldn’t get enough of the Olympic Trials – swimming, gymnastics, and of course, track and field – so many amazing performances! I am just in awe of these athletes, especially with having to wait an extra year and stay at peak performance.
Over coffee, I would tell you that I am really looking forward to our family getaway to northern Vermont later this month! Hiking, kayaking, and a tour of Ben & Jerry’s are among the items on the itinerary.
Over coffee, I would tell you that for as much as I am looking forward to some time away, I am really wishing that the days would slow down just a little. I feel like June blew by in a blink! And, now the whiteboard double calendar in my kitchen reminds me that in just a mere 8 weeks from today we’ll be dropping my oldest son off at college.
What would you tell me over coffee? What are you looking forward to this month?

I bet it will be so nice to go to Vermont where it is hopefully a bit cooler, or at least less humid! I hope you love the Glycerins- they’re one of my favorites!
Keeping my fingers crossed that Vermont delivers some nicer temps! I really like the Glycerins too – they were my shoe of choice for the Chicago Marathon.
Your summer getaway sounds glorious! With Thing 1’s work schedule, I don’t think we can go anywhere this summer. I agree June FLEW! Later this month Thing 2 celebrates her sweet 16. I cannot believe it!
Wow my youngest son celebrates 16 at the end of the month too 🙂
June did go fast! Our two oldest kids both have July birthdays, and it always seemed like June was one month we could sit back and enjoy…because once July hit, we had the two birthdays (on the 5th and 16th), then it was fast-forward to back-to-school shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much downtime this year and June was over and done much too quickly. Your vacation sounds awesome!!
I’m really looking forward to mellower vacation days. It will be nice to have some uninterrupted family time before school starts.
Have such a fun vacation! Yum, Ben and Jerry’s!
I shared that cartoon when my son went off to college, lol. It’s so bittersweet, seeing them grow up. I still miss both of my boys, but as you know, I see them as often as I can. You did a good job and he will do you proud!
Aww, thanks Wendy <3
I watched some of the track trials, but I didn’t even recognize the Tokyo logo! We’ve been all-in with the Tour De France.
I totally get that college cartoon — I felt the same way when my son left, but it wasn’t as terrible as I feared. 😉
Congrats on your 100 badge!
Thanks Coco! My husband has been watching the Tour quite a bit, but I haven’t followed it as closely this year. Those riders are amazing.
That vacation sounds perfect.
Congrats on your new shoes. And on your 100th run.
I’m not looking forward to July in the office but am liking my weekly group runs.
I hope to take a few days off in August to see old friends.
I hope your transition back to the office is a smooth one!
I can’t wait for the Olympic Games to start either! Always so fun to watch.
The trip to Vermont and touring Ben & Jerry’s sound so good. I’ve never been but heard it’s beautiful.
I agree that June went by soo fast! I want to slow down a bit for the rest of the summer and be more mindful of each day!

I know what you mean about being more mindful – I’m hoping to rush around less and really soak in the days before the summer is over.
Ooh – so fun to receive a forgotten prize – especially new kicks! Whoo hoo!
I love Vermont – enjoy!!
Thanks Erica 🙂
Your family getaway later this month sounds like just what the doctor ordered! Bliss! I love the Olympics and can’t wait to get stuck in! I think all athletes that have come this far have really shown such resilience – training through a pandemic (some probably even getting sick somewhere along the line) and having to wait a whole year for this event.
When you think about what it takes for those athletes to have made it to this point it’s pretty amazing!
Woohoo for reaching 100 runs! Sometimes those milestones sneak up on you, lol. I try to stay on top of it but I usually forget half of the time.
Your family trip to Vermont sounds like it will be so much fun. Getting to do a tour of Ben & Jerry’s will be so cool!
Hope you have a great July 4th weekend!
I really have to start paying better attention to my Peloton stats — I’ll be better prepared for the next milestone LOL.
I love what I call “bonus mail” when you’ve forgotten something is coming.
I feel you on Vermont. I’ll be there jsut after you, thanks for the reminder on Ben & Jerry’s, we haven’t done that in a few years.
Congratulations on 100. Iwas just a few days ahead of you. If either of us realized we could have done it together.

Back at you on the 100! Maybe we’ll get to celebrate 200 together 🙂
it’s a plan! I won’t even make you do country 😀
Ha! Now that’s a deal LOL

Omg, that “first day of school/first day of college” is priceless. I’ll be right there with you.
Yes! Olympic fever! I had a bit of withdrawal this week after the trials were over, but we started streaming Peacock and there are some specials on there that I’m planning to watch. My Olympics tank top arrived from Old Navy so I’m all set!

Nice on the tank – I don’t have any Olympics-themed gear, but I may have to change that!
A long time ago we lived outside of Burlington. Lovely place to visit, but I didn’t enjoy living there. So far it’s actually the shortest amount of time we lived somewhere (7 years). Enjoy!
I have not watched the trials at all, but you can bet I’ll turn in tor the real thing!
My husband went to UVM and loved his time up there. He’s already mentioned wanting to visit Burlington while we’re up there.
You will love the Glycerins! They are my favorite so cushioned. Vermont seems like a great vacation spot. It’s so pretty up there in the summertime. I also visited the Ben and Jerry store up there a few years back
I ran in the Glycerin 17s – they were my marathon shoe and I loved them so I’m really looking forward to running in them again!
Oh, wow! We went to Vermont when I was younger, and the Ben & Jerry’s tour was definitely a highlight. I hope you have so much fun!
Congrats on your new shoes and your 100th class!
Thanks, Jenn!
And, you can’t go wrong with Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, right?!
Congrats on your giveaway win + on hitting your 100th class!
I’m super excited to watch gymnastics! *-* Hope you have a bunch of fun in Vermont too! The Ben & Jerry’s factory was awesome! 😀
Thanks Farrah! I’m really looking forward to watching gymnastics too – the US Women’s team is so strong!
