After enjoying relatively mild temps (40’s) and no trace of snow, Ma Nature reminded us this week that it is still winter in New England. On the flip side, the sun made a return appearance! I don’t know about you, but for me, bright sunshine always helps to make these cold winter days much more tolerable.
Here’s how my workout week played out…
Monday — Peloton 20-minute ride, 20-min Bodyweight Strength, and Yoga for Hamstrings. I continue to enjoy the theme of these “Year of Yes” workouts, and this yoga class focused on hamstrings was so needed and made a repeat appearance throughout the week.
Tuesday — 3.5-mile run and yoga.
Wednesday — Rest day plus sun salutations. I woke up with a headache that left me feeling really off so I did a 10-min sun salutation sequence and called it a day.
Thursday — Peloton 20-min ride (another “Year of Yes” ride!) plus a 5-min cool-down ride, 10-min core, and a repeat of the Yoga for Hamstrings.
Friday — 3-mile run and yoga. It was oh so cold, but the sunshine was glorious!
Saturday — 4-mile run and yoga. A biting wind made this run extra frigid, but the combination of early morning sun and quiet roads made this an enjoyable run.
Sunday — Marcia’s 20-min Standing Abs and Strength workout and Peloton 20-min Yoga for Hips. If you have not checked out Marcia’s YouTube channel you really should!
It was another week of pain-free running! And, as you can see the yoga streak continues (Day 24 as of today!). On both Friday and Saturday I changed things up a bit up by starting with the 10-minute sun salutation sequence as a warm-up before heading out for my run – it seemed to work well so this may be the plan for the upcoming week.
How was your week? Do you find certain combinations of workouts work best for you?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
Hooray for another pain free week of running! I agree with you about the Year of Yes workouts. I’ve done a few of the meditations and cycle classes and have bookmarked the strength and run/walk classes to take over the next few weeks.
The weather this weekend was brutal! Kudos to you for getting out there to run. We’re expecting some snow here on Tuesday/Wednesday.
Mother Nature has definitely turned on us LOL!
I’ve bookmarked the rest of the Year of Yes series as well – I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they’ll extend it.
Considering how cold & windy it was this weekend — you are definitely a warrior for getting out in that! Brrr just thinking about it.
I will do the same sort of workouts for a while & then I’ll usually try something new. Our bodies need variety!
Yes, I agree – variety is needed. Precisely why I know I will never be someone who can just run – my body would revolt! Plus, mentally I need the change of pace to stay engaged.
We had a few sunny dog walks this week, but overall it’s really dark where I live. I’d be interested to try a short yoga workout before a run, and next week is a good time to do it since it’s a cutback week and I’m just doing short runs.

I found it to be a nice way to warm up before the run – especially the sun salutations. Let me know if you try it!
I did that hamstring class as well and really liked it/ I love the 10 m stretch classes so much. Way to get out there with the wind and cold. It was pretty mild here until this week as well. February is usually our coldest month and then-spring! Have a great week ahead
Thanks Deborah. And, I know what you mean about February – I’m bracing myself for what’s to come!
Solid week for you! I have been waiting for The Year of Yes book from the library and I just got a notification that it’s in. Anxious to read it and hopefully make it a theme for this year.
Stay warm!
Oh, I just read that book and really enjoyed it! Can’t wait to hear what you think.
It was colder here this week too, and I’m not excited for some snow/ice this week! Great job with all your workouts including your yoga streak!
Thanks Lisa 🙂
Bummer on the headache, but glad the rest of the week went well. We had mild weather this week until yesterday. Now it’s COLD! Great idea to use sun salutations as a warm-up — that makes sense.
I’m usually not the best at warming up before a run so the sun salutations worked really well.
Winter is right!! single digits here with the wind chill. At least there was sun but I prefer it about 20 degrees warmer.
Great news that you are pain-free.
I’ve only done the bike & runs with Peleton. I just don’t make time for the other stuff. My bad!
Psychologically it does help to at least see the sun…but yeah 20 degrees warmer would be nice LOL!
We got some decent snow in the UK today. Settled in the town I live so got to do 2 snow runs, I really enjoyed it, and the snow meant less traffic on the roads.

I do love a good run in fresh snow especially when there are fewer cars on the road!
Great job on the yoga streak! That is great that you are running pain free. I am sure it is the best feeling ever.

Definitely so happy to have my hip cooperating again 🙂
Yay on pain free running. Deborah sent me that hamstring yoga, among others, and it is amazing. I need to get in the habit of doing a warm up. and ABSOLUTELY on the sun. It makes it feel much warmer.

I’m glad you’ve tried the hamstring class too – just so good! Sounds like you’re making good use of the app.
I might be a little bit hooked o:)
Brrrr, yes, Momma N wants us to remember it’s winter 😉 We just got back from seeing our daughter and future son-in-law, and the temps were in the high-20’s. My first thought was “excellent walking weather” because the wind wasn’t really blowing LOL Great week, Michelle!! And, great job with all the yoga!!
Isn’t it amazing how different the temps feel when there is no wind?!
Thanks so much Kim!
Hooray for the yoga streak and thanks again for trying my workout. 😀 Yeah winter definitely took a turn for the colder here last week and we’ve got a winter storm set to blow in here this afternoon. Hopefully I can pickup Thing 2 from school before it arrives. Ugh.
It was a good workout! There are a couple of other workouts on your channel I need to try.
I don’t know what this “Year of Yes’ is but i like the sound of it! Seems like you had a great week. Glad your runs were pain free- “yes” to that!

Peloton partnered with Shonda Rimes who wrote “Year of Yes” and each week in the series is a different theme. It’s been pretty inspiring!
You are doing great! And you are amazing getting out there in this weather. That takes some determination for sure!
I do find certain combos work better for me than others. It’s funny how that works out.
Awww thanks so much Jenn 🙂
winter is fine… as long as the sun is shining for sure! I’m sure you’ll be glad (like me) when it warms up a bit!
I did one of Marcia’s workouts as well! I think I’ll try the one you did tomorrow 🙂
Having the sunshine makes all of the difference for me…but yes I won’t be complaining when it warms up a bit 😉
Thanks for the recommendation – I did that workout of Marcia’s this week! Great job on the yoga streak.
