Hello November!

And just like that, we’ve put another month in the rearview mirror. Before I get to my goals for November, here’s a quick run down of this past week’s workouts.

Monday — Peloton Cycle plus Strength classes. Felt great to get a strong start to the week!

Tuesday —  Rest Day plus Core-tober continued. Struggled with a migraine all day so I waved the white flag.
Wednesday — Peloton Cycle plus Core. I had no interest in running in the rain so I swapped in a ride instead.

Thursday –– 4 miles plus another day of Core-tober. The endless rain continued so hello treadmill.
Friday — Yoga.
Saturday — 6 miles and the last day of Core-tober.

Yes, that is snow in the background!

Sunday — Started the day with a 2.5-mile walk, and at the time of writing this post, I’m still debating whether there will be yoga or a ride later.

November Goals

On the fitness front, October was a pretty solid month. I hit my goal of 80 miles and completed the Peloton Core-Tober Challenge (29 core workouts from the BreakThrough Crew instructors). I also completed my first virtual half marathon…and yes, there has been time on the new Peloton bike!

So what will November bring? Hopefully, more of the same! For running, at a minimum, I’d like to repeat October’s mileage. But, with one more virtual half to complete before the year’s over, I’m also aiming to increase the distance on the “long” runs, so perhaps I can bump up my overall mileage in the process. I also have a virtual 5K and 10K lined up.

The BreakThrough Crew on Facebook has created some fun new challenges – “Swolvember” focusing on strength training and “On holiday for the holidays” focusing on cycling and running – which should help to keep things interesting.

Lastly, my sleep really suffered in October, so I’m making it a priority to get more rest this month.

What have you got planned for November?

  1. Excellent work on that solid October, Michelle! My only goals for November are to continue my rally-back running (and hopefully knock out the remaining miles for my bike streak). Sounds like there was so much rain in the NE last week…not fun!

  2. Great month for you! Let’s see what have I got planned for November. Pretty much nothing. Haha! I suppose I’ll run ZOOMA Texas Wine Country virtually and of course I’ve got the Holiday Challenge starting mid-month.

Rainy here too. We probably have similar weather.

November will have me running my first pandemic race.

I also hope to keep up the miles inspite of the la knif daylight.

  5. Great miles for November!!! I’ve got a virtual half–that Thanksgiving half I run every year. It’s not a goal race for me, so I’m going to just enjoy the ride. No other goals. I’m working on heavy strength right now.

    • I think heavy strength sounds like a great thing to focus on. I’m definitely planning on spending more time on strength training over the winter months.

  6. How is it going with your new bike? I confess that it’s been weeks since I’ve used it.

    Great month for you!

  7. Great mileage! Glad to see that you are really taking advantage of all the Peloton fun. We should all do a live class together some time. Hope you get some more sleep!

  8. I love Swolvember! My big goal for November is a sub-30 5k Turkey Trot. Hopefully the weather will hold so that I can get my speed workouts done outside. I just find that speedwork on the treadmill doesn’t translate as well as outside running does for me.

    • That’s interesting about the treadmill. Speedwork is about the only thing I really enjoy running on the mill. I hope the weather cooperates for you!

  9. Great month! I’m seeing how you work in the bike with running! I think I’m going to do the “Holiday” challenge, but only refer to the other if I need ideas.

We can’t get to 2021 soon enough!

    • I figured I would try to incorporate both challenges and see how it all plays out. I’m still trying to balance the running and cycling – I seriously want to do all of the classes LOL!

  10. Another strong week, well done! And yes to that sleep – me, too, yet again. I am hoping to get another 100 mile month in, it seems doable and comfortable now. Still gutted about the 99.4 in June which I can’t round up really! Have a great November!

  11. Funny – I didn’t get great sleep this past month either. November has started off much better, though.

You had a great month and hopefully this one will be even better.

  12. Such a solid month for you, Michelle! Good luck with your goals in November — sounds like you’re in a great place with your fitness.

Unfortunately my sleep really took a hit the last 10 days, and I’m slowly catching up. I could’ve been a Zombie for Halloween!

  13. Great job in October! I love that so many of the Peloton groups always set up monthly challenges. It’s such a great way to stay motivated.

  14. You had a very strong month! Good luck with your goals in October. Once I adjust to DST I hope to get more sleep too!

  15. After my half marathon on the 14th, my goal for November will be just to rest and recover! Be consistent with PT and strength exercises. Be good to my body :). Sounds like you had a solid month!
