What a rollercoaster week it’s been!
I’m happy to take a moment to take a step back, catch my breath, and join Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date.
Given the week this has been I would have to ask over coffee how you are holding up? Suffice it to say, even though I had fully expected this to be a difficult week, I am truly disheartened by the way things are playing out and I am anxious about the road that lies ahead.
As a needed distraction, over coffee, I would tell you that I have dived headfirst into decluttering and home organizing projects. I have Kim to thank for introducing me to The Home Edit on Netflix and after a couple of episodes, I was inspired to take on our pantry and kitchen cabinets. I’m now deep in the rabbit hole and perhaps am spending a bit too much time on the Container Store website.
Over coffee, I would tell you that my oldest will be home from school in just two weeks! After relying on FaceTime and Zoom for the past 11 weeks, I cannot wait to hug him! I’m really looking forward to having everyone back under one roof for a bit.
Over coffee, I would tell you about the swan that has taken up residence in the pond down the street from my house. While I’m used to seeing ducks and Canadian Geese, the swan is a rarity. I stop to look at him on many of my runs and always marvel at how he seems to stare back. A simple reminder in the midst of everything that there is beauty all around.
What would you tell me over coffee? Any unique sightings lately?
Swans. Are. A-holes! Be careful!
I got to see some goats and horses this week and that made me super happy.
I am taking a break from renovating. I kind of want to start Christmas decorating, but kind of not.
Oh yes, Swans can be such divas…but they’re so pretty 🙂
I’m looking forward to Christmas decorating too – I feel like we’re really going to need things to feel festive this year.
We see a fox (or multiple) around our house regularly. In fact, last night we slept with our windows open and I heard him during the night (a fox’s bark sounds like someone being murdered).
Hope you have a great weekend!
Yikes! Who knew foxes were so loud?!
You are absolutely correct, there is beauty everywhere! A friend told me, this morning, that we often see what we’re looking for 😉 Hold on tight, I don’t think the road is gonna get any smoother…regardless of who is declared the victor from this week.
I think your friend is right – so important to remember to look for (and see) the good!
I am loving the Home Edit as well, and am inspired by it! My kitchen has never been more clean! Haha! Up next the master closet and bedroom.
That is so cool that swan just showed up. Since my dad died, I’m all about omens. I saw a bald eagle on the day he died and a few days ago as I pulled onto a busy street, a Snowy Owl took flight from across the street and flew next to my car for a few seconds. I sound like I’ve lost my marbles but I swear it was surreal!
Hooray for the homecoming countdown!
Oh my gosh, your sightings gave me chills!
I’m glad I’m not alone in my Home Edit obsession – I just started diving into our closets too!
You have to name the Swan!
I’m glad that you are enjoying The Home Edit! I haven’t implemented their color system yet but that’s next on my list.
I didn’t color code my pantry but I’ve started doing it in my closet – I tell you I’m obsessed LOL!
oh I forgot I wanted to check out that home edit show! Thanks for the reminder sounds like a great show for this weekend
Oh I hope you get a chance to check it out!
I have been holding up, but today I’m feeling more stressed out. The lies coming from T and his supporters really stress me out, so I need to stop listening.
It will be so nice to be with your son again! I’m really glad he was able to have a good semester at school.
I have not gotten bit by the home decorating bug, but I have taken steps to improve my basement gym. New floor mats are supposed to arrive on Monday.
The floor mats will be a nice addition to your home gym space.
In some ways, I cannot believe the time has passed already and he’ll be coming home – cannot wait to hug him!
Some of the golf courses around here use swans to keep the Canadian geese away. I wonder if that swan is a plant?
Hang in there, friend! I feel your pain.
Interesting about the use of the swans.
Thanks, Wendy – hugs to you!
Hang in there my friend.
I need to look Ito that show. Currently reading the new Marie Kondo
book and yeah, Container Store is trouble
Yay on your son coming home
I never checked out the Marie Kondo show – do you like her approach? I seriously think I need to enter Container Store detox LOL – thankfully for my wallet I’ve been able to find comparable products on Amazon and Target’s website.
Haven’t seen her show, but the new book is good so far. Lots on digital clutter which is one of my challenges. My other Container Store alternate is bed & bath, especially the ones closing.
I keep forgetting about Bed, Bath & Beyond – there is a number of them closing around here too. I will have to check their website.
They have excellent curbside service so I feel safe. Wonder what’s going to fill the giant space though. Was looking forward to it being next to our TJs
No unusual sightings, but I agree about beauty being around if you look for it. Even with the dwindling leaves, I keep looking for it. Of course the nicer weather this week made it easier!
I am recuperating from the last month. The house is a wreck. I barely had any time to myself and housework just wasn’t my top priority. I’ll get back into it as I get a bit more rested!
Enjoy that family time with your son. It goes too quickly!
I hope you get some much-needed downtime!
That’s great that your whole family will be back together again soon!
The Home Edit, eh? I may need to check this out! I was doing a lot of organizing too so I’m definitely down for tips!
The swan is so beautiful!

The Home Edit is so fun!
I am really looking forward to having the family under one roof again 🙂
Projects are a good way to distract yourself from the news. Last week seemed like it was 463,524 days long! Thank goodness it’s over!
So glad your oldest will be home soon. I love it when all my kids are under one roof.
The projects are definitely a healthy distraction!
Yes – always good to have my kids home and the family together again.
I’m also really disheartened (I wanted the election to be a complete and total landslide), but it’s so important right now (given how this year has been going) to find beauty/goodness in everything. Hang in there! <3
I had hoped for the same – sigh. But we keep looking for the good, right? Hang in there – better days are hopefully ahead.
