Now that we’ve hit December, it will feel like a mad sprint to the end of the year! I’m trying to do my best to slow down, to make time to relax and to connect with family and friends. In fact I have lunch plans with a friend later, but first, for this week’s Fit Five Friday, I’m connectingwith Coco, Deborah, and you for the last Ultimate Coffee Date of the year! So grab a mug and let’s chat.
Last Coffee Catch Up for 2024
Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m looking forward to getting our Christmas tree this afternoon. After being under construction last year at this time, I’m really looking forward to decorating this weekend!
Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m once again participating in the #3for31 Challenge. This is one of my favorite challenges hosted by Peloton instructor Robin. The goal is to run or walk 3 miles or move 30 minutes daily in December. I like having this little extra nudge to make sure that I don’t slack off due to holiday stress and end-of-year overwhelm!
Over coffee, I would tell you that just as my husband and I were talking about eliminating our Peacock subscription – we got it for the extra Olympics coverage – we’re now hooked on the new series The Day of the Jackal. It’s a great thriller starring Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch and feels more like a movie vs. a TV series. I guess we won’t be purging Peacock any time soon.
Are you streaming anything good lately? If you celebrate, have you started your Christmas decorating?

I watch a ton of shows on Peacock! I have Jackal marked as well. Have you tried Found or the Irrational? Have fun decorating your tree! Love the 3 for 31 every year as well.
Oh, I’ll check all these Peacock shows out. OTOH I have a Hulu subscription I got for Handmaid’s Tale and still haven’t canceled. That’s how they get us!
Do you get a fresh tree?
I got Hulu last year on Black Friday for $1.99/month, and kept it (I think it’s $10/month, so very affordable). With my recent iPad purchase, I got three months of AppleTV, so I’m binge watching Ted Lasso. I’m not much of a tv-watcher, other than NCAA football and basketball, so it’s tough to get in a routine of sitting on the couch so much, LOL
I don’t have peacock but just binged Nobody wants this on Netflix.
I doubt I’ll get agree with my monster kitties.
Good luck with your challenge.
I too recently finished Nobody Wants This. Now we’re on the 2nd season of Bad Sisters. Christmas is in the building here. Have fun decorating.
We keep wanting to eliminate our streaming services, but then another new series pops up! We share Peacock with my oldest son. We saw Nobody Wants This; like Marcia, we’re watching Bad Sisters.
How fun to decorate a new space, especially since last year things were in an upheaval because of construction. Enjoy your weekend!
No current fitness challenges for me, but I did just set a lofty cycling goal that will keep me busy until the end of the year.
Almost all my inside decorating is done, but I haven’t started on the outside (sigh!) I HAVE to do that this weekend! Have fun with your decorating. I agree, December goes so fast, which seems grossly unfair because it’s the best month. A fitness challenge for the month is a great idea- otherwise it’s VERY easy to let it slide. Good luck with it!
I am sure you are glad to have your house back! Can’t wait to see your tree!
I’m not streaming anything. We are watching Christmas movies and Mr PugRunner is watching sports. I just don’t have too much time to invest in shows.
I don’t have any streaming services anymore except for what’s included with Amazon Prime (I should utilize that more, come to think of it…). I do kinda miss the Netflix account that my friend used to share with me! Still a little salty that they made it not possible to share anymore, haha. My friend cancelled her subscription in protest as a result of that.
I don’t have Peacock but like everyone else in the comments I just finished Nobody Wants This and it was so good. And man, I’m jealous of your Christmas tree! We’re currently remodeling our house and my only decoration is the rental dumpster outside my front door (it’s bright red, so at least kind of Christmas-y, I guess). It’s not looking like our remodel will be done anytime soon so I’m dreaming of how I will decorate next Christmas.
