It’s been quiet here on the blog while I took a much needed break. Now, as we usher in a new month, it’s a good time for a little coffee catch-up, so I’m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. And, of course, it’s Friday so that means another Fit Five Friday link-up! So grab a mug of your fave beverage and let’s chat.
Returning for November Coffee
Over coffee, I would tell you how overwhelmed and grateful I am for all of the cards, text messages, DMs, and notes I have received since the passing of my mom. All of it has bouyed my heart during a difficult time.
Over coffee, I would tell you that it’s been almost 6 weeks since my PRP injection and I’m still waiting for the angels to sing. Some days feel better than others but overall progress feels slow. I’m seeing my ortho on Monday and hoping he sees my progress differently.
Over coffee back in August, I shared that I wanted to learn a language. At the time I was debating between French and Spanish and selected French. While I diligently put in the time on the Babel app daily, things kinda petered out a few weeks later and then life happened. Well, I’m happy to say that I’m back at it, but I’ve switched to Spanish! I am finding more practical uses for it and it helps to have others to practice with. We’re talking about a trip to Barcelona next year, so there’s some additional motivation!
Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m starting another gratitude challenge on Instagram. I did one a couple of years ago, and with the combination of life events, work stress, election fatigue, etc., I’m feeling the need to focus on the positive! So for the month of November, I’ll post daily either in my IG feed or story something I’m thankful for that day using #FocusingonGratitude. Join me!
What would you tell me over coffee?

Years ago, I had to learn Spanish for my first position as a nurse practitioner. Most of my patients only spoke Spanish, and they taught me how to basically converse. I also used the Golingo program and dook some lessons I purchased through Groupon. I learned a lot of medical Spanish too, which comes in handy to this day. You got this!
I wish you peace and gratitude as you navigate the grief of losing your mom, especially as we approach the holidays. <3
Thanks so much Wendy <3
That is a great challenge… it’s important to focus on the positive (though hard some days).
I hope you see progress soon with your injury.
I was a French and Spanish teacher. My preference was always French… sorry. But hope your learning experience goes well… Foreign travel is exciting and better when you speak the language.
I agree – travel is so much more interesting when you speak the language!
Nice to have you back Michelle! I am hoping that PRP kicks in for you and does its magic. I’ve been working on appreciating the gift of everyday and being grateful for that gift. Good luck with the Spanish lessons-Barcelona is a fun city to visit
Thanks Deborah – 6 weeks is “supposed” to be the magic tipping point for a PRP tendon injection so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Just all the hugs. It’s been one heck of a year for you and I wish all the best things for you going forward.
I can’t wait to hear more about your Barcelona trip! I was there once, and it was beautiful (I was in high school, so I don’t remember much, but I loved it).
Thank you Jenn – Hoping we can make the trip work with our schedules next Spring.
I think your daily Gratitude posting is a fabulous way to keep things on the positive. I have found that focusing on the positive (thankfulness, gratitude, blessings, etc.) really helps to keep other aspects in a much brighter light. It’s been my beacon in recent years, especially in recent months. Hugs to you, MIchelle <3
Agreed – focusing on the positives (both big and small) can really shift your mindset for the better.
Thanks Kim <3
Michelle, I didn’t know your mom passed. I’m so sorry- I know this is a very difficult life event.
Ha- I like that “recovery” illustration. So, so true. Hang in there.
I learned French in school, which has turned out to be totally useless. I SO wish I had learned Spanish, especially since I now live in South Florida.
I love the gratitude challenge and I love that quote. Yes, we all need to focus on the positive right now.
Thank you Jenny. And, with all that’s happening on the daily in the news, focusing on the posititve feels like a necessity, right?
I can totally understand how your language efforts would fall by the wayside . Life totally gets in the way sometimes. Love the Gratitude challenge. It truly is life changing to look at the bright side.
Hope you start hearing some angels from the PRP very soon!
Thanks Marcia – me too!
I can only imagine how hard it’s been. My thoughts are still with you.
I do hope PRP is having more of an effect than you realize. Those good days are real and real progress!
Thanks so much Coco. And you are right about those good days being progress – gotta hold on to that!
Hugs to you!
Yay for learning Spanish. I think it is easy to learn because it is phonetic. Hopefully, one day we can practice.
I would love that Zenaida 🙂
Welcome back, and I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending you lots of love and virtual hugs. I love that you’re focusing on the positive this month — it is definitely so needed and helpful in this time.
I hope the PRP kicks/has kicked in too!!
Thanks so much Farrah 🙂
