Happy Friday! It’s time for another edition of Fit Five Friday, – and since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia to share a Runfession or two.
June Runfessions
Last month I shared my annoyance with the new Garmin Connect “upgrade”. Well I runfess that since I received my new Apple Watch as a Mother’s Day gift, my Garmin hasn’t seen the light of day. Maybe things will change when I return to running…but for now #sorrynotsorry
I runfess that while I miss running I’m more than ok with missing the slogfest that is summer running. I’ve made no secret that this is my least favorite season for running, so with the heat index reaching tripple digits over the past week, I’m fine with keeping my fitness focused on walking and strength training.
One of my goals for June was to get back to my yoga mat at least once a week. Goal accomplished – however, I runfess that as much as I try I’m not sure yoga will ever be my thing.
Summer running – Yay or Nay? Do you make time for yoga or is it not your thing?

Oh I like the upgrade on Garmin! But that is not to say I would say no to an apple watch. See how you like it when you start running again. Maybe you won’t go back?
Summer running is not really my thing. Either it’s monsooning here or its blazing with the humidity at 372%. But alas, if you are going to do a fall race I guess you gotta train in the heat.
I also am not really a yoga person. And you know I tried pilates forever and never really got into it. Do what brings you joy, I say.
I am right there with you. Apple watch replaced my Garmin and I never looked back. My Fenix sits gathering dust. Ugh. I do not envy anyone trying to run in this heat. I don’t know how I did it for so many years. I guess motivation will take you far. I am no longer motivating to slog through the heat.
I’ll run in any weather except a hurricane, but I’ve also been walking this week due to a sore calf. And, for a while I was doing yoga daily, then I stopped because it was hurting my wrist, and now I don’t miss it. I should at least be stretching at night though!
Yoga is not my thing and I am so not flexible. I do try to make it a priority to do a short yoga or stretch class daily and that does it. I feel you on the summer heat and have cut back significantly on my running right now
I like yoga, but I definitely do not love it I’m horribly unflexible, so it’s a frustrating ordeal for me. I do think if I was more disciplined with it, my flexibility would improve…but I don’t have the patience to stick with it. You probably know my answer to the summer running question 😉
If I had to miss any running, I’d pick summer for sure!
I do Pilates weekly but yoga only occasionally.
I used to enjoy yoga but my ankles are so inflexible, I’ve given it up and I don’t miss it. I guess I never loved it.
Yes on the heat… I’ve had to run very early.
I have an Apple watch and loveit… I only use my Garmin if I race because I’m used to those stats.
I’ve only gone to yoga once since my fav instructor changed her schedule, and I have a class pack gathering dust. ~sigh~
Now that I am back to summer running I am embracing my tread, LOL.
Oh I love yoga so much and I miss it. The YMCA I am part of has yoga classes but the times are so inconvenient !
I appreciate how you broke down this complex topic into manageable pieces. Your clear explanations and real-life examples made it so much easier to understand.
