It’s time for another edition of Fit Five Friday, and, since it is the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia to share some Runfessions. So let’s get to it!
Runfessions for March
It’s been two weeks since I got my cortisone shot and I runfess that I’m starting to feel pretty defeated because I had hoped to feel better at this point. While I thought I had turned a corner after last weekend (race volunteering on Saturday and then a solid run/walk effort on Sunday) by Tuesday I was feeling a little achy and then Wednesday was just not fun 🙁 I have been trying to stay positive, but I runfess that I’m struggling to maintain that positive attitude.
I runfess that I am just not a fan of DST right now. While I do like that daylight lingers later and later in the day, I very much prefer working out early in the morning, and I runfess that my motivation to get out for a walk or run/walk in the dark is way low. I’ve been slipping in workouts midday or after work, but I can’t wait for more early morning light!
Have you ever had a cortisone shot? Are you missing the early morning light?

Oh Michelle, that’s such a bummer the shot didn’t bring as much relief as anticipated 🙁 It was a year ago that I got mine (for my grumpy lower back), and it was a good decision in my case. I hope things improve for you, and you eventually get some relief from the discomfort(s) you’ve been dealing with. ((Hugs))
Thanks so much Kim.
I’ve had cortisone shots on my right foot. Something there was hurting and the shot did help, but it was still painful. Hopefully, soon you’ll get some relief too. I also like and dislike DST for the same reasons you mentioned.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
YES I AM missing the early morning daylight. I’m with you- I like the lighter evenings, I’d much rather have that daylight early in the morning.
Ugh, I’m sorry to hear the shot didn’t help. Cortisone shots are hit or miss- they work for some people and not others. I don’t know why. I would struggle to stay positive too- injuries that take such a long time to heal are the worst. I know there’s a solution for you, you just have to find it.
Thanks Jenny – I had had such high hopes. Just gotta keep looking right?
I’m sorry that the shot didn’t provide more relief! Hoping for improvements for you.
We’re seeing some nice light here earlier so spring is coming your way!
Thanks Erica 🙂
I am sorry to read that your shot did not do its job. Hoping you are able to find another treatment that works for you so you can get back to running soon
I’m heading back to my sports ortho next week so fingers crossed we can find something more effective.
LOL on that meme. I want my morning light back!
I’m so sorry about the cortisone shot not bringing the relief you hoped. I hope you find relief soon!
Thanks Coco – I’m hoping you find some relief for your hammy!
I like running in the morning dark, and I’m almost guaranteed to get a sunrise, but I do have a hard time waking up when it’s dark. Boo.
I hate that things aren’t progressing more smoothly for you 🙁
Thank you Jenn – I’m heading back to see my sports doc to come up with a new game plan.
I’ve never had a cortisone shot but I’m bummed for you that it did not provide relief. I’m ok with the darkness here in the midwest but when we were in FL last week the mornings were darker than I prefer for sure.
I’m definitely looking forward to more morning light!
