It’s time for another edition of Fit Five Friday hosted by Darlene, Renée, Jenn, Zenaida, and me!
And, since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia for Runfessions.
Runfessions – January 2024
I runfess that for as much as I would like to get back to running, I’m holding out for “ideal” weather conditions. Yes, as someone recently pointed out to me I could start on my treadmill, but I simply don’t want to. While there are certainly times I’m grateful to have easy access to a treadmill, (especially when I’m training for a race) I prefer to run outdoors and I figure if I’ve waited this long I can wait a little longer.
I also runfess that the weather whiplash that has been January is getting old – how much longer until Spring?
Any runfessions to share? Do you enjoy treadmill running?

I do enjoy the treadmill but I don’t blame you one bit for wanting better conditions to run outside. January has been dreadful here. So cold, so much snow, and now it’s raining on top of it all so lots of ice and gloom. I too am ready for spring!
January weather has been rough for sure – so much ice and rain 🙁
I totally get you on the treadmill. Glad to hear you are ready to get back to running and I hope you are able to get outside soon
Thanks Deborah 🙂
Well… sometimes when I’m coming back from an injury I actually LIKE to try the first run on a treadmill. That way if it hurts or I need to stop, I can just get right off. Whereas if I’m outside I might keep running, or run too far to try to get back where I started. But, I get it if you want to hold out for the roads. I hope it goes well!
Thanks Jenny – Hopefully the weather will cooperate soon.
I hope your weather improves and you’re able to get outside for that first post-injury run soon.
Speaking of weather whiplash, it was 77° here in Virginia this afternoon!
Wow I could definitely use some of that weather here!
You know how I feel about “treading” LOL. My running mileage took a hit this month, due to the weather & the roads…and I lost ZERO sleep over it .
Fingers crossed we both get better weather soon!
I didn’t love my treadmill until I started running with the Peloton app. Now I actually look forward to it! And if I had a runfession it would be that I’m starting to like it more than running outside!!
I’m with you on the weather! So ready for spring!
I have used the Peloton app on the mill sometimes and it does help to pass the time!
I’m the opposite. I need the discipline of the treadmill to make me stick to my easy pace and planned intervals. When I run outside my pace is all over the place and I hesitate to stop running.
I hope the weather cooperates for you soon!
The mill does have offer some advantages – I just really miss an outdoor run!
I don’t love the treadmill, but there are days I want to run more than I don’t want to run, and if it’s icy/dark, well that’s my vehicle. I actually like it for workouts, but not just running like I would outside
