For this week’s Fit Five Friday I’m heading over to Marcia‘s Runfessional – I’ve got a couple of runfessions to share before stepping into October. So let’s dive in!
Runfessions of an Injured Runner
No great surprise – I runfess that I really miss running! Yes, I’m staying active (walking, Peloton bike, strength training), but this is my running season and it has been two weeks since I went for a run! I love Fall running and being sidelined is making me just a little cranky. OK, my family would say a lot cranky…
This weekend would have been my race weekend – and while I am very disappointed to be missing the TC 10M, I runfess that I’m not sorry to be missing the Heat Advisory just issued by race organizers. Seriously, we should not have to worry about 80+ degree weather at this time of year… in Minnesota!
Do you get cranky when you can’t run? Any runfessions to share?

So sorry for your untimely injury, Michelle. Total buzzkill! I guess your silver lining is missing the unexpected heat, but still. Hugs to you <3
Thanks so much Kim!
Yes, I too would be terribly cranky if I could not run. I hope you’re able to soon. That said, yikes on the heat advisory for the race this weekend. I would not mind missing out on that one bit!
The weather has been beyond bizzare this year!
I hear you on Fall running! I’m sorry you can’t race, but you can console yourself about how hard it would have in the heat!
I hope your recovery continues to go smoothly & you’re back to happy running soon.
I’m so sorry you are sidelined. I forgot this race was in MN. Yikes on the heat advisory there. Such bizarre weather.
I hope you get some answers and can get going on rehab soon.
Yes I’m more than ready to get some answers!
Thanks Judy – me too!
There is never a good time for injuries. I feel you Michelle. Having the Peloton is a life saver though and will keep you in shape. I hope you get some answers soon and can make a plan for rehab

So true – having the Peloton has helped a lot!
Oh yes, I get VERY cranky when I can’t run. At least you have a sense of humor about it. I hope your injury is healing- I’m sure all the other activities you’re doing are helping (movement= bloodflow= healing.). In the meantime you can get on your Peloton bike this weekend in your air conditioned house, so there’s that.
Gotta keep a sense of humor, right? 😉
Oh, so cranky. SO CRANKY.
I am finally (slowly) back to it, and I feel like a new human. I hope you are feeling better soon.
I’m glad you’re on the comeback trail!
I’m so cranky when injured! I tweaked my hammy and am trying to see if I can still run Chicago but I may skip it and try to get to 100% for NYC. It’s the worst.
On the upside missing out on a heat advisory race that you’d have to travel for is a lucky break! Silver linings!
I hope you feel better soon!
Thanks – I hope your hammy behaves!
I’m so sorry that you can’t run! I definitely get cranky if I can’t run.
Come to Chicago next weekend and spectate with us!! The Chicago RHT wants you!
I wish I could be there – I miss my Chicago crew 🙂
So sorry! I was just getting back up to 5 miles etc though feeling a bit washed out and tired and unfit when Covid struck. I did break into a trot to get back to the parkrun start line from a toilet dash in time to do the timekeeping, so maybe all is not lost. Take care, keep calm and do whatever exercises you’ve been given!
Oh Liz I’m sorry Covid found you! I hope you’re on the mend!
I’m so sorry you’re having to miss your race, Michelle. That really stinks. 🙁

Thank you Deb!
I hate to hear when a runner is ignored.
Yes I am very cranky if I can’t run. Walking is just not the same.
I hope you can run the race next year.
And that your recovery goes smoothly so you’re back out running.
I like walking – but no I agree, it’s just not the same.
