Well hello, September! Is anyone else trying to wrap their heads around what happened to August – it went by faster than a blink and here we sit at the start of a new month. My weekly check-ins have been sparse as blogging continues to sit on the back burner for me, but my running and workouts keep chugging along. As I mentioned over coffee, with summer winding down I’m craving some routine so perhaps there will be more blogging in my future.
In any event, here’s a quick peek at the last week of August and what I’m planning for September.
Hello September!
Monday — Rest Day – I was still feeling off after Sunday’s shortened run (logged 5 miles instead of 7) so I spent some extra time stretching and called it a day.
Tuesday — 2-mile walk, Yoga & Core.
Wednesday — 3 miles. A rainy run – I prefer to run in the rain vs. the treadmill as long as the roads aren’t too slick and there’s no thunder.
Thursday — Lower body strength & sports massage
Friday — 4 miles
Saturday — Upper body strength & Core
Sunday — 8 miles
With just 4 weeks to go until the TC 10M, this run was a confidence builder! My goal from this point forward is to do what I can to run all the miles on my plan and not to shorten another run. To make that happen, hip mobility work will be a top priority. My other goals for the month are to prioritize sleep (I was all over the place in August thanks in large part to multiple trips across time zones) and dial in my nutrition – aka, get out of vacation eating mode LOL.
I linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
What have you got planned for September?
I hear you on the hip and glutes mobility work. Looks like you are in a good place for your upcoming race. Have a great week
Thanks – hopefully I’m doing enough to keep all the body parts happy!
Yay for a confidence building run!
You did travel across time zones a few times this month — as did I. 🙂 I think I can no longer blame jet lag, just bad habits.
While I enjoy the travel – the re-entry is tough!
I think you are going to do great on your 10 miler! My favorite distance!
Thanks Wendy! It’s my fave distance too – I wish there were more available.
Nice miles this week, Michelle! That’s a great confidence boost, and the 8-miler certainly was a well-earned bonus 😉 My September will be all about consistent longish runs on the weekends. I’m pretty much in 13.1shape, I just need to keep the long runs in the double-digit arena now.
Nice – when is your next race?
Great job on your 8-miler and glad it was a confidence builder. You’re going to do great at your race!
I feel you! Why is it so easy to get into vacation eating mode, yet so difficult to get out? LOL

It’s a slippery slope, right? lol
It looks like you’re doing some great things with your training, mobility work and some sports massage too – very important!
My September will be busy but the most important thing this month is to continue all my physiotherapy and strength work and improve my walking.
I hope September is a great month for you!
Hooray for 8 miles… you are definitely ready for that10 mile race.
I never do all the runs on my plan but it’s ok as long as I get those longer runs in on the weekend.
Boy August went by in a blink. But now the summer temps are back.
You’re smart to get those long runs done!
I hope this return to Summer temps is short-lived.
Hurray for a confidence building run! Don’t they feel awesome? You’ve got that 10 miler!
Thanks Judy 🙂
After my summer vacation, and in prep for an upcoming anniversary trip, I started using the LoseIt app again! I usually just run off the calories and but lately I’m just not putting the big miles in. Using that app really opens my eyes to the calories and nutrition in foods that I never gave a second thought before. It’s been a good habit to get into!
I need to get back to tracking – it does help me to be more mindful of what I’m eating.
You’re in a good place- an 8 mile long with with 4 weeks to go before your race. You will be ready! It’s nice to get back into a routine after all the summer fun.
My goals for September also include sleep- still working on that! Also to start focusing more on longer runs after my “summer of strength.”
Are you focusing on longer runs for an upcoming race? Which one?
Love a good confidence boost! You deserve it!
I didn’t think August was too fast, but it feels like the end of the year will be here in a blink!
Thank you Jenn 🙂
I’m hoping the Fall months don’t go by too quickly!
I’m so behind on reading blog posts, I can read and write reviews and read blog posts but not all three! Go go go with the sleep prioritising and I promise I’ll try at it, too!

Here’s to us both getting more sleep!
Hooray on the running confidence boost!
I really need to tap into all the mobility classes on the Peloton app.
