Happy Friday!
It was a bit of a rough “re-entry” into the first week of the new year and I must admit that I’m ready for the weekend! I’m kicking off the first Fit Five Friday of 2023 by linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. So grab a mug of your beverage of choice and let’s chat a bit.
First Coffee Chat of 2023
Over coffee, I would tell you that it’s hard for me to believe that I will be celebrating my first year anniversary at my job! And, what a year it’s been – big fundraising events, a change in the CEO position, and so much more. It’s been hectic at times, but I do enjoy the challenges of my “new” position.
Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m going to my high schooler’s college counseling meeting for parents next week. It’s starting to get real that my “baby” will be applying to colleges this fall.
Over coffee, I would tell you that I am hoping to dive into a house remodeling project this year. My husband and I have never loved our kitchen/family room layout and if we can settle on a contractor we like, construction could begin in the spring.
Over coffee, I would tell you that thanks to the anticipated remodel project, one of my non-fitness goals for 2023 is a massive purge! I am on a declutter tear and my boys are hiding their things LOL
Over coffee, I would tell you that the Fit Five crew has decided to try something new this year and we have created a whole calendar of suggested topics for the Friday link-up. You can, of course, write about whatever fitness topic strikes your fancy, but we thought it would be fun to try some themes this year, (we’re all still planning to continue to link up for both coffee and Marcia‘s Runfessions) – I hope you will join us!
What would you share with me over coffee? Any home remodeling advice you care to share?
Welcome to FitFive Friday!

I too am on a massive purge/declutter here as well. We need to do some updating and while we’re not going to do anything major, it still involves moving things around, etc and lighting a fire under the hubs buns…That is my biggest challenge.
Best of luck with the college search!!
All the best with the remodel! I think the most stressful part was interviewing contractors and waiting for them to start and for stuff to arrive…well no the worst part was being given 24 hrs notice to have the kitchen completely emptied. Ugh! All that said it will all be worth it!
We’re in the same place with college admissions. Exciting and scary all at once! Congrats on your work anniversary!
Congrats on your work anniversary! I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the change!
A kitchen remodel is daunting but so wonderful when it’s done! We used a contractor a friend had used, and then another friend used them after us. I hated all the decisions to make, but love how things turned out. Good luck!
After the old, ugly carpet went in this house — before I even moved in; Mr. judy was already living up here — the kitchen was our first project. We didn’t do a huge amount but it made a big difference.
I’ve finally found a place close to me to donate clothes & shoes so I just keep purging along (and also purging some of my mom’s stuff, too).
Congrats. That year went fast.
I hope our topics will make it easier for bloggers to join.
We remodeled our kitchen. So much work but so worth it.
Good luck.
We’re on a major purge/de-clutter as well, with sights on down-sizing. EEK! It’s so overwhelming (along with any and all daily stress, LOL). Isn’t it surreal when the ‘baby” toes the college gig?
I am running out of blog ideas so I appreciate some new prompts! Things definitely change when the kids go off to school. We also keep finding projects to do around the house. Our deck is up next and we are working on reorganizing. I have lots of purging to do

Well, I would say you’ve got some exciting and stressful things coming up- a kitchen remodel and college applications. I know how tough that college application process is- I feel like I’m still recovering. My daughter will just be starting high school next fall so I still have a few years to gather my strength again.
We don’t have any big house projects coming up, but I do need to declutter! Please share your progress so I can get moivated.
Ahem… MOTIVATED. Sheesh.
Declutter is one of my words of the year, too!
Thanks for the writing prompts! I need some blogging inspiration.
Home renovation sounds exciting! It’s so fun to imagine the possibilities and Pinterest is a dangerous place, haha!
I can’t believe your son is approaching college age…how??
Happy New Year!
Ooh love the year of topics. I will try to get it together one of these weeks.
COngratulations on a year. A lot to navigate but glad it’s overall good.
I’m with you on the purge. Things just multiply! And while I don’t think I’m moving when my lease is up, I’ll move… eventually and don’t want it to be a last minute thing. That’s how I ended up with boxes unpacked for years

happy first anniversary at work! would you say you feel at ease and “in” now with your company? I am obviously at the beginning stage of my new job but I sure hope I feel like I actually belong there soon.
It’s incredible how fast kids go from elementary school to applying for college! We had the kids over here for Christmas, and my stepson brought his girlfriend (whom we’d never met before) and I was just sitting there looking at them (24 and 21) like… how? how did you two go from teenagers to now?? 😀
ooh remodelling! good luck with all that! we purged a lot before we moved and still have too much stuff. but it’s always worth it in the end even if it’s tough getting through the actual work!
Best of luck with your house remodeling + congrats on your work anniversary!
I really need to go on a declutter spree as well, haha. (SO likes to do this often and I’m, sadly, usually the one doing the hiding-of-stuff. 😛 )
I have given up almost all remodeling projects: I’m holding out for a move to the mountains. My only advice is to be patient, go with the flow, and know when to speak up. Things are taking longer, it’s more expensive and supplies are harder to get. Work crews are also harder to find. it will be worth it when it’s done!
Congratulations on one year!
Purging and decluttering is never fun but so worth it. Good luck with the kitchen remodel. Keep us posted on how it is going.
Congratulations on your first work anniversary! You handled that transition like a pro, well done! Decluttering has rolled onto my Goals list AGAIN this year – but so determined to get it done. And yes – my family had better watch out too because I’m coming for everything!! LOL!
Thanks for those topic ideas for Fit Five Friday – as always, I will be joining the Fit Five Crew whenever I can!
