Happy Friday everyone!
My office is closed for a Summer Friday and I’m more than ready to dive into a long weekend! And, is there a nicer way to kick off a weekend than with a little catch-up with friends? So for this week’s Fit Five Friday, I’m joining Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. I’ve got my iced coffee, so let’s chat!
Catching Up Over August Coffee
Over coffee, I would tell you that we had a great vacation in Stowe last month. There was lots of hiking, kayaking, a tour of the Ben & Jerry’s factory (of course!), and a day trip of sightseeing in Montreal. So much goodness and way too short – the week went by in a blink. So, of course, I’m starting to plan the next vacation.
Over coffee, I would tell you that I have completed my professional certificate program! I wrapped up my final project on Sunday and grades were posted late Monday. While I really enjoyed the coursework, it feels so good to have it all wrapped up.
Over coffee, I would tell you that we’re in the midst of a flurry of family birthdays with both my sons’ birthdays being just a week apart and my husband’s is in a couple of weeks. I marked another trip around the sun yesterday, and to be honest will be stretching out the celebrations over several days – I met a friend for dinner Tuesday, celebrated with the family Thursday, heading to lunch and shopping today with a friend, and brunch plans with another friend on Saturday.
Over coffee, I would tell you that we are now a household of 4 drivers as my youngest got his license a few weeks ago. I would also tell you that I haven’t driven with him yet – seriously I don’t think I can do it without clutching the door handle. And let’s not discuss car insurance with two teenage boys under 20! It is kind of hard to imagine that my mom Uber days are over.
What would you tell me over coffee? Do you enjoy celebrating your birthday?

Happy birthday to your entire family! We have a cluster of birthdays in late July as well; my oldest is in August. When they were little it was a little crazy with parties and all, but now it’s a little more sedate!
How nice that your office is closed on Friday–I’d love that! Enjoy your long weekend. And congrats on finishing your certificate program!
I’m glad you had a great birthday celebration!! You probably know I have zero shame in celebrating mine with a week-long Pi extravaganza every March 🙂 I was so nervous when our first child got her license, but I also was thankful how easily it was to give up the chauffeuring duties, LOL.
Your getaway looks divine. I feel SO overdue for a vacay. Of course I was just in Portland but it was hardly a vacay. Congrats on your certification and to the new driver in your house. I felt the same way when Thing 2 got her license last year. Not sure I’ll ever totally relax about that.
I remember how I used to start sweating and getting nauseous when driving with my teenagers LOL. Good luck with that! Your vacation sounds like it was just what you needed. Enjoy your birthday weekend!
Ooh! Happy Birthday! Yes, the celebration should be extended as long as possible.
Ha, no can’t imagine what the insurance is like with TWO teenage drivers. We had to drop Allstate (who we’ve been with for over 20 years- actually I’ve been insured with them ever since I started driving) because we literally could not afford what they were charging us when my son got his car. So, I do recommend shopping around just to see if anyone can give you a cheaper rate- we went with Liberty Mutual.
Congratulations on finishing your certification program! That must feel great.
Four drivers! That’s so exciting!
Sounds like your birthday was great. I love my birthday although now I realize I have to plan it all, but whatever.
Sounds like your vacation was perfect!
And happy birthday. I don’t make a big deal of mine but I do try to be with my friends in Fla (so I don’t work that day!!).
Congrats on your new certificate. I bet you are relieved to get it done.
Congrats on finishing your course, the birthdays, and your vacation! Brings back memories, since Stowe, Montreal, and Ben & Jerrys was basically where we took most visitors when we lived in VT . . .
My Dad wasn’t a patient man, but I was really surprised that he was patient when I was learning to drive. I was so afraid of him teaching me (although most of it came through Driver’s Ed one Summer).
Your vacation looked amazing! I can imagine you can’t wait to get back there!
Well done getting your professional certificate program! That must feel so good to have it done!
I feel like when we get older, we have the right to stretch out our celebrations. I mean, if we haven’t earned that right by now, what’s the point? haha!
I still haven’t gotten in the car with my stepdaughter and she’s been driving a few years. My stepson was just talking about doing lessons and I suddenly felt very anxious. How are they DRIVING now?
Happy Birthday(s) to all!
Love some summer Fridays and congrats on your certificate program. It’s always great to wrap up a course.
It sounds like you had (and still are having) a fabulous birthday! I celebrate mine for about a month – at this age I’ve earned it! 😉
Yay for a fun vacation! It looks like you packed a lot of fun stuff into your trip.
Congrats to your son on getting his driver’s license! I remember well how expensive it was to insure two boys under 20.
Debbie @ Deb Runs recently posted…Weekly RunDown: July 31 – August 6 / Lots of Cycling, a Special Run, and a Loud Boom
Girl, celebrate all month! Why not? Yay for Summer Friday! Great day to be off.
