It’s time for another edition of Fit Five Friday! We’re also rolling into the first weekend of the month which means Coco and Deborah are hosting the Ultimate Coffee Date. I’ve got my mug of coffee, so let’s chat a little.
Over coffee, I would tell you that today marks the completion of 6 weeks in the new job. The weeks are just flying by! I’m really enjoying it and feeling more settled in and into the groove of things every day.
Over coffee, I would also tell you that as I get ready to spend a couple of days a week in the office I definitely need to update my wardrobe – translation I’ve been working at home for a long time and live in athleisure wear. I’m considering trying out one of those subscription services because while I don’t mind shopping, that’s not really how I want to spend my free time.
Over coffee, I’d tell you that I’m having a hard time with the fact that my youngest son has his first meeting scheduled with his school’s college counseling office. What the what?! He’s a sophomore and I’m not even sort of ready to think about him leaving for college!
OK, your turn, what would you tell me over coffee? Have you tried a shopping subscription service – any suggestions?

Wow, 6 weeks already? I subscribed to Stitch Fix for a long time. I finally quit because my stylist seemed to be in a rut and kept sending me the same type of clothes every time! I even switched stylists and that was interesting. I would recommend it, though, because, for about a year, I was really able to pump up my wardrobe!
Wow time flies! Seems like you just started your new job. Haha! I did Stitch Fix for a bit but I found that lots of the stuff I kept I did not end up wearing that much. I runfess there was a “college night” meeting via Zoom on Wednesday night that I forgot all about. Ugh. Like you, I cannot believe it’s time to start moving toward getting the our younger child to college.
That’s great that you like your new job. I think I need a new one.
Not ready to go into work ever. Every now and then I do have to go in. It’s a challenge to dress. My clothes seem so dated.
By the end of May we will be back to the normal routine I think.
Never tried a subscription. I have too many clothes. I need to de clutter big time.
It makes me happy that I can live in athleisure. 🙂 That’s great that you’re enjoying the new job so much, Michelle! Staring a new job is really tough.
Sophomore does seem a bit early to start thinking about college, but things are so different these days.
That yoga pants meme is spot on. They lowered our dress code at work, but I still want to “dress up”. I struggle most with shoes. I don’t want to part with my sneakers.
So glad your new job is going well!
Wow, it’s been six weeks already! That really has gone fast. I’m so glad the new job has been going well. Many years ago, I actually did fashion consulting…I’d help people (mostly women) go through their closets and decide what to keep or toss, and then how to mix and match various pieces to get more outfits out of what they had remaining. It was a fun outlet for my art geek self. I really got spoiled in January, working from “home” and hanging out in workout gear most days.
High school flies by so darn fast. My son is a junior and we do talk about college a lot. Just when I am getting used to my daughter being a freshman in college, another one will soon be gone. It’s tough!!
I have never tried a service but I did buy an annual subscription to a capsule wardrobe (Outfit Formulas). Basically it shows you the clothes to make up outfits for a season. Shop your closet then buy whatever you want to fill in the gaps. It has helped me with trends.

wow 6 weeks already! I tried stitch fix years ago and meh but I know people like it. I think you have a Nordstrom near you-they have a great personal shopping team free of charge. You just tell them what you are looking for and they pull everything and then you just go in and try it on. I’ve done that in the past. I know they also have one that works by mail which I can not remember the name of. I wish I lived closer I would be your shopper!

Oh, that meme… luckily my daughter’s only 13. But I know how fast these years go.
When my son decided on Baylor, they sent him a shirt that says “I know where I’m going.” Now I’m getting brochures about career counseling and they show someone wearing a shirt that says “I know where I’m going next.” NEXT??? He’s only a freshman! Don’t send me these things!
Glad you’re settling into your job! I haven’t tried it, but have heard great things about Stitch Fix- I think it would be worth a shot. I want to hear all about it if you do!
Glad to hear the new job is going well! I used to do Stitch Fix and have tried Trunk Club. Now I just buy stuff I know will work online!
So glad that you are feeling more settled at your new job. One of my friends had success using StitchFix when she wanted to update her wardrobe, so that may be a good subscription service to try out!
Six weeks already? Times is going by fast. I miss my casual days when I was working from home. Well, I am still a bits semi-casual now but do not wear jogging pants. 🙂
I’m glad you’re enjoying your new job!
hehe, I’d so live in athleisure wear if it were socially acceptable at my job (alas..) — I spend most of my days outside of my job in it though so it works out. I’ve heard good things about Stitch Fix but haven’t ever tried it out personally!
My kiddo just had his meeting for high school electives! Ugh! What a gut punch that was! Why is momming so hard?
