A full moon kind of week

Is it just me or was this quite the week?! Everything felt just a little…off? I’m going to chalk it up to the full moon… or perhaps the effects of my sugar detox (more on that in a minute). First, here’s how the week’s workouts played out.

Full moon spotted on Thursday morning’s walk.

Weekly Run Down – Week 42

Monday — Lower Body Strength, Core, Peloton ride & Stretch. Out of curiosity, I tried one of the Barre classes on the Peloton app as part of my strength workout. I did not love it. Thankfully, I picked a short class.

Tuesday — Day 2 of the sugar detox and I hit the sugar wall (at least that’s what I’m calling it)! Felt really sluggish and had a withdrawal headache. This combine with a cray cray workday that left me spent…I took a rest day.

Wednesday — 3-mile run, Core & Stretch. Mother Nature finally hit the switch on the fall weather, my energy level bounced back, and I couldn’t have been happier!

Thursday — 2.5-mile walk & PT exercises. Another nutty workday so I was super grateful to have a sports massage scheduled at the end of the day.

Friday — 1-mile walk, Full Body Strength & Stretch.

Saturday — 4-mile run, Core & Stretch. More 50-degree perfection and this run felt so good!

Sunday — 3.5-mile walk, PT exercises, & Yoga.

Just 2 runs this week and felt great on both. Slow and steady progress!

Sugar Detox Week 1 Done.

Going into the sugar detox I had been warned of possible withdrawal side effects — headaches, sluggishness/low energy, muscle aches — check, check, and check. I definitely rode the roller coaster of these effects with Tuesday being the worst of it.  My energy level kind of ebbed and flowed so I let how I felt dictate whether I walked or ran. By Saturday I woke up with some pep in my step and that’s carried over to this morning as well. Week 2 of the detox is on deck.

  1. I must be immune to the moon ha ha I actually felt an extra pep in my step this week that I attributed to the fabulous weather. Sorry, you are having some rough spots with the sugar detox. Hang in there it definitely gets much better. You can do it!

  2. It seems like it was an off-ish week for a lot of us. While I was on a mad quest to SEE the full moon, it never crossed my mind that the full moon itself could have been the been the cause of all the chaos (#FacePalm). Glad to hear the energy returned and rewarded you with some great runs!

  3. Yep, that sounds about right! It always seems to be the second day of these things where the body realizes you’re depriving it of its “thing,” and let’s you know it’s not happy. By the weekend you’re getting adjusted so you feel better. Glad you got through those first few days! Next week will be better.
Glad you’re enjoying some beautiful weather!

  4. Sugar wall is a great way to put it. So apt. I occasionally want to try a caffeine break, but I don’t make it past one day. I’ve cut back, which I’ll call good enough.
Sorry about the work craziness. We’ll all get there. Eventually. xx

  5. Props to you for making it through the first week of a sugar detox. That’s the toughest and it gets SO much better. Glad you enjoyed sme fabulous weather! Wish fall would stick around awhile!

  6. Way to power through the sugar detox. I am sure you will feel better this week. Hanna C has a few barre classes I like (they remind me of Jane Fonda style toning classes with leg lifts and such) but I don’t like the standing classes.

  7. Well done on getting through Week 1 of the detox. Hopefully, body now realises the new reality and Week 2 will be a lot better and give you a more consistent bounce in your step. Best of luck.

Having said that, I also felt off this week, so it may be the full moon after all, LOL!

  8. My husband has been diagnosed with full type 2 diabetes now and somewhat foolishly cut his carbs as well as going on meds – he’s had the carb flu, which sounds similar to your effectsl Sigh. At least I can talk about that – no running or anything but walking here for the last week although I’m healed from my fall enough to try some workouts in the next day or so, I think.

  9. EVERYTHING was off this week. I legit could not get it together! I didn’t think about the full moon.

Hope your sugar detox gets easier!

  10. Oh last week was insane! For me it was due to work being nuts. I know that will continue into next week so I’m really looking forward to November.

I know I need to do a sugar detox, but I’ll probably wait until after New Year’s just cause I like to indulge in yummy treats this time of year lol.

  11. Good for you. I know I could never do it. I’m sure things will get better.

  12. We always blame weirdness at work on the full moon, which is kind of funny because it’s weird every day! Good luck with the sugar detox. I definitely watch the sweets and refined carbs— trying to keep inflammation at bay. When I do indulge, I definitely feel it!

  13. 2 runs that felt good is awesome! Quality over quantity.

However hard it may be, reducing sugar is always a good thing.
