There was definitely a touch of Spring in the air this week and it felt glorious! I love the sense of renewal Spring signals.
For this week’s Fit Five Friday, I’m sharing a few self-care tips for the new season.
Five Self Care Tips for Spring
Refresh your skincare routine – The change in season is a perfect time to refresh your skincare routine. Swap out your heavier moisturizer, step-up your sunscreen game, and check the expiration dates on anything you put on your face (ditch anything 6 months or older). And, don’t forget that skincare extends beyond your face. Shed your winter skin from head to toe by adding exfoliation to your routine.
Take a walk – While I try to get fresh air as much as possible during the winter, I have missed my walks. Embrace the fact that you don’t have to put on all of the layers – get out and soak up some extra vitamin D. Getting fresh air and spending time outside is vital self-care in my book!
Eat fresh – With all of the great produce that will become available during the season, I consider taking time to meal plan and to try new recipes as a form of self-care, don’t you?
Start a gratitude journal – A gratitude journal helps you to focus on the positive, and that, quite simply, is good for your mental health.
Feed your soul – Invest time in your favorite hobby, make time to read, or learn something new. The key is to find something you want to do that will be therapeutic to you in some way. For me, Spring is about spending time in my garden – it’s a chance for me to be in nature and to be creative…it feeds my soul.
What do you do for self-care? Do you change things up with the new season?

I’m excited to get out for more walks again now that its warmer! And I should really go through my skincare products. Thanks for the reminder!
I just went through the skincare products in my cabinet and there were definitely some things that needed to go :0
While I’m outside all year long, there’s something special about being outdoors in the spring!!! Looking forward to the change of seasons.
There is definitely something about being outside as Spring starts to take hold!
I was just thinking about all the veggies that will be coming into season soon. I’m also looking forward to getting out in the garden!
I’ve been sketching out garden plans – can’t wait to hit the local nurseries!
I have had a gratitude journal of sorts for a few years. I write down a few thinks, each evening, that made me smile or feel “warm and fuzzy” from the day. Also, I’m all about the daily outdoor walking! I really missed that last month when I couldn’t go for extended walks in the morning or after work.
That’s great that you keep a gratitude journal! I used to keep one but let it lag for some unknown reason. I’m planning to resurrect the practice.
Great post.
Fresh air is key for me since I’ve been working at home. Now if only I could take off those layers and get some more vitamin D
I also agree about feeding the soul. For it is reading and some easy knitting.
Thanks Darlene!
I can’t wait to shed some layers – more vitamin D is needed for sure!
Even though it appears that I spend a lot of time on self care, the truth is I’m often taking care of everybody — human & furry alike — and pushing myself. Self care is so important, but it can be so hard!
Getting outside is SO important, and more light and longer days helps with that.
I practice Yoga first thing when I get up. It just sets me up for a calm day!
I agree – carving out time for self-care can be hard. We tend to put ourselves at the bottom of our to do lists.
I think it’s great that you start your days with yoga. Meditation sets the tone for me – makes such a difference.
Taking more afternoon walks is on the top of my to do list this month. Loving the warmer temps!
Yes! I’m looking forward to taking more walks.
Such great tips. I’m excited for more walks! And, I’m trying out some new skin care products.
Thanks Erica – I’ve been checking out some new skincare products too.
i don’t really change things up with the seasons because our seasons don’t really change much here! But I try to do some of these on a regular basis- my favorite “feed your soul” activity is reading at night.
I love to curl up with a good book – haven’t done it enough lately.
Fresh air is it for me, and I’m trying to get rid of winter feet. I have pedis regularly, but some elements of them just get harassed by my sneakers so trying to treat them with care.
I runfess that I’m in desperate need of a pedicure!
I want to spend more time reading! I have so many books I want to read but just need to make time for it.

I’m the same way!
Spring is definitely a time of renewal. I need to get back to serious reading (I’ve been falling asleep early), and some art. Creating has stalled, and I need to get back to it.
Oh I hope you’ll share your next creative endeavor 🙂
Great tips! I am looking forward to the produce in spring and I live for our family walks and hikes! I was also happy to schedule a massage!
Yay for scheduling a massage!!
great tips!! I actually just bought some new things for my skin care routine and started yesterday! and you know I’m all about getting a walk! It’s also finally time that salads make more sense for lunch too and more fruit for snacks. I have never done a gratitude journal but when I say I find it cheesy that probably means I need one… haha! Now to only find time and balance for hobbies besides running and fitness…
Your gratitude journal comment made me chuckle 😉
Is it crazy that I’m very excited to refresh my whole skincare routine?!
