Labor Day Weekend Coffee

Happy Friday!

I’m joining Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date. So grab a mug of your favorite beverage and let’s chat a little…

Over coffee, I would tell you that I am in the middle of a glorious 6-day staycation. It’s been so nice to unplug from work and have the extra time to get some odds and ends done. Now if I can just figure out a way to become independently wealthy before Tuesday 😉

Over coffee, I would tell you that I cannot believe my oldest son has already been back on campus for two weeks! After having him home for 6 months, the house feels oddly quiet. While I really miss him, I’m so glad he’s back with his friends and in a classroom again. I give his school such high marks for having a great plan to bring students back safely. I’m keeping my fingers crossed they can make it through the next 11 weeks and complete the semester.

Over coffee, I would tell you about my latest obsession – watching the World’s Toughest Race – Eco-Challenge Fiji on Prime Video. 66 teams on an 11-day trek across some incredibly challenging terrain. J and I rarely binge watch, but this show hooked us right away!

What would you tell me over coffee?

  1. That is one lovely view for your coffee!

So happy you’ve enjoyed your stayaction & that your son is doing well!

  2. Both my offspring are both past school years so we don’t have the worry of sending them off to school.
What I would like to tell you over our virtual coffee though, was that my wife and I are celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary today (I got married VERY young 😉
The plan is we are going out for our first post pandemic meal this evening.

  3. I’ve heard about that show–I think we’ll have to watch it. We haven’t had the best luck with shows lately, lol!

I’m glad to hear your son’s return to school went well. My house is very quiet. I sure miss my boys!

    • We hadn’t had much luck with shows either but watching these teams navigate this trek was addictive. I also loved the different personal stories of the competitors.

  4. I’m glad you son is doing well at school! I think boarding schools that can close their campuses should be able to keep the kids — and staff – healthy. Thanks for the idea of a show to watch! Right now we’re watching the Tour De France.

  5. We’re watching WTR as well. It’s nuts! That’s so great your son’s school is handling everything so well. GaTech is making a great effort and their still hanging tight, but wow it hasn’t been easy. The kids all test for COVID at least weekly and so far so good.

  6. Glad to hear that you are enjoying your staycation! If you figure out how to become independently wealthy before Tuesday, please let me know, lol.

  7. Ooh I need to check out that race series movie. Sounds good! Enjoy the rest of your stay cation

  8. That show sounds like a must-see! We’re currently obsessed with How to Get Away With Murder….just can’t wait for each new episode. Glad you’re having a nice staycation…we all need those!

  9. Have a great staycation! Unplugging is a wonderful idea. Good luck to your oldest at college this year. I hope his semester is uneventful, COVID-wise! 🙂

    • Thanks for the good wishes – he’s actually in his senior year at boarding school.

Unplugging is good for the soul – I really need to learn to do it more often!

  10. Being able to unplug is so, so nice! I’ve definitely been all about the staycations (when possible) this year!

I’m glad your son’s return to school went well! :]
