Hello Summer!

Heat and humidity are the names of the game around here this week as we close out the final days of June. It is crazy to think that we are almost to the halfway point of the year. Now seems like a good time to take a step back, reassess, and set some new intentions. And, with the short work week ahead and the holiday weekend, there will be plenty of downtime to just that.

But before I put June in the rearview mirror, here’s how this week’s workouts played out…

Monday — Yoga by Peloton. For the past couple of weeks, yoga has been my Monday thing, and this week was no different.

This was a great combo to release the stress of a Monday!

Tuesday — 3-mile run
Wednesday — 1-mile walk and PT exercises
Thursday — 2.25-mile walk
Friday — 5.4-mile walk catching up with a friend
Saturday — 2.3-mile run followed by a couple of hours of yardwork
Sunday — 3.5-mile run

Despite the heat and humidity, I tried to get outside most days, with an almost even split between running and walking miles. Sleep has been evading me once again, leaving me feeling sluggish many mornings with no desire to run. But, time outdoors is good for the soul, and I really enjoyed my walks.

Always good to opt outside as much as possible!

Today marks day 28 of the Summer Streaker Challenge, and my family team is more than halfway on our out-and-back across the state for the Great Run Across Massachusetts. Challenges like these have been fun and definitely help to keep the motivation up when the dew points get high.

How was your week? Are you embracing the summer weather?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

  2. Like you, I am trying to get outside every day in some capacity. I’ve gotten the hubby (kind of ) hooked on walking (as well as stairs LOL), so that’s been fun. Great job on your Massachusetts run!

  3. Ah, yoga…you are such an inspiration! I’m embracing summer as its so short lived, no matter how sweaty and tough it is for running sometimes 🙂

    Awesome week lady!

  4. It was a steamy week here too! Sorry you haven’t been sleeping well. That makes everything hard. Maybe this shorter week will help with that.

  5. I love that you have designated Mondays for Peloton yoga! I haven’t taken a yoga class with Chelsea or Denis yet but I have heard that they are both awesome.

Let’s hope that the humidity leaves this week!

  6. Time outdoors is magic, totally agree.
For as much as March/April dragged, I blinked and missed May and June. I might set some second half of the year goals since I didn’t while broken in January

  7. I’m so sluggish and also not doing yoga – wonder if the two are connected! I’m also twisted and stiff and I know that is!! Well done for getting outside so much, which has to help.

  8. I am embracing summer and I’m very grateful I don’t have to run unless I want to.The humidity is no joke! I do need to get back to yoga though.

  9. Great job! The summer can go jump in a lake. It is beyond oppressive. It’s too hot to even want to go to the beach. Ugh. I’m still getting out there, but I’m not happy about it LOL!

  10. My backyard where my Yoga platform is very shady, and I just love spending time out there, doing Yoga, watching the birds or the chipmunks. My latest YT video was filmed out there on a 90 degree day!

Your family is doing great with the challenge. it’s great to be involved in something with the whole family!

  11. It was a scorcher last week but it looks like this new week will be perfect summer weather. Especially when I go for a walk I could walk FOREVER on these perfect summer nights, listening to a great podcast. Maybe I’ll even get some running miles in this week! Last week it was too muggy and steamy and pretty much a bust.

This year was supposed to be better. But here we are halfway. And actually even though in the beginning of lockdown things when rather slowly, I’m glad now that the pace is picking up.

Great job on all the miles you guys are racking up! Having that challenge to motivate you is a good thing!

  12. Great job with your challenge! I’ve also been trying to get outside most days and its hard in this heat. I guess we should just get used to it!

  13. That’s tough with the lack of sleep, Michelle! So great that you still manage to get out the door and enjoy the great outdoors!
And I love that you are doing the challenge as a family!

  14. Great job to you and family for the challenge! I’ve been getting out early because it’s been hot and humid.

  15. I love that you start the week with yoga. That’s a brilliant way to set and focus the mind on the week ahead!

  16. We probably have similar weather…hot…humid!!!

You are doing great. It’s nice to do it as a family.

I am trying to stay motivated by myself…not easy!
