After a couple of weeks of juggling crazy work days, winter concerts and other school events, and all that goes into Christmas prep, I am more than ready to shift into holiday mode. Amongst the madness, I’ve kept up on my workouts (to save my sanity!) – Here’s a quick run down:
Running
Over the past couple of weeks, my runs have been short (3 -4 miles) and uneventful. We finally found a home for the treadmill I won and it has come in handy on some of the more frigid days where black ice was a concern.
Cross-Training
If you follow me on Instagram then you know that I continue to love my Orangetheory workouts! I’ve been able to get to the studio twice a week, which feels like a good balance with 3 days of running. The classes are challenging and I love that no two classes are alike.
I’ve also managed to spend a little time on my yoga mat once a week – a rare occurrence that needs to happen more often!
I think this mix of 3 days running and 4 days of cross-training has really agreed with my cranky hip, which has been much quieter lately.
Today will be all about making cookies, wrapping gifts, and hanging with the fam, and then one more day in the office tomorrow before going into full vacation mode! Can.not.wait!
So tell me are you ready for the holidays? Taking any time off?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
Awesome job with all of your workouts and I’m so happy that you are loving OTF!
You did a great job of selling me on OTF! 😉 I’m so glad I finally made time to try it.
That’s great that you found a winning balance of running and cross-training (and yoga, too!), I’d argue that’s the trickiest part for all of us…and no two people are going to have the same magic formula for anyone else. I”m contemplating making one more batch of cookies…contemplating LOL I’m headed out in a bit for our local Holiday Light run…maybe after that I’ll inspired to fire up the oven one last time. My holiday break starts around 10:00 Tuesday morning (our office officially shuts down for the company party) and then we’re all out of the building by 1:00. Then, the hubby and I are headed to Cali for a few days 🙂 Best wishes for a great holiday with your family, Michelle!!
I think it’s a bit easier to find a balance during the “off-season” – the trick will be to keep this going once I start training for the next race!
Enjoy your company party and time in California! Merry Christmas Kim!
So glad to read that your new workout plan is helping your hip stay happy. I need to find that balance myself
Thanks – hopefully this plan will work once I start increasing my miles again.
Sounds like you’re going a good balance with OTF. It is so addicting! Enjoy this time with your family! Merry Christmas’
OTF really is so addicting – I want to go all the time LOL!
Merry Christmas to you too Coco 🙂
I am already off for Winter Break and I am very excited about it! 🙂 Wait, you won a treadmill? That is AWESOME!!!
Crazy about the treadmill, right?! Enjoy your winter break!
Welcome to the short and uneventful run club! Haha! I’m right there with you: The lead-up to this holiday week was a crazy one. Glad you’re enjoying OTF!
I guess as long as the runs are uneventful that’s the best news right 😉
I’m all about the mix of running and crosstraining. I think it’s kept me relatively injury-free! Have a wonderful holiday, Michelle!
Thanks Wendy! I really need to keep this mix going as my mileage increases.
That’s great that you can now make use of the treadmill! Great job!
It’s winter break for us but I don’t have much planned. I’m just focused on resting and recovering and hoping for the best with all that.
I’m self-employed but I’m sort of done now so hope to not do any work from tomorrow until the 31st which is invoicing day! I am glad you’ve found a good balance that feels right for you.
Oh good – enjoy your down time!
That’s great news about the cross training helping with your hip! It sounds like you’ve found a good balance.
It helps to have a mode of cross-training that I’m really enjoying!
Time off? What’s that?! Sadly, no. Some day . . . enjoy yours!
Glad to hear the hip has been cooperating more. Happy Holidays, Michelle!
Thanks Judy – Happy Holidays to you!
Vacation mode. Love that. I’m working and saving my time for races.
Glad to hear your hip is getting better.
My foot is still sore. Now I’m just ignoring it. Better than not running. It’s not worse. So there’s that.
Happy holidays
Sorry your foot is still sore – hope it starts to feel better soon!
Awesome job keeping up with your workouts! I’m trying to get back into my routine but looking forward to having time off from work!
Enjoy your time off!
