Weekly Run Down – Catching up

Halfway through the month already!

While things have been extra quiet in my little corner of the blogosphere, the workouts have been happening, I’m making progress on my November goals, and I may have found a new obsession!

Running

With the exception of one very sluggish day, my runs over the past two weeks have been pretty good. Mother Nature has essentially pulled the plug on fall weather, so I’ve pushed most of my runs to the afternoon when it’s relatively warmer. And, given how hectic work’s been lately, the added bonus to these afternoon runs has proven to be a good stress-reliever. With the distances hovering between 3 – 5 miles, I’ve been playing with picking up the pace, and have been rewarded with a handful of negative split runs!

Orangetheory Fitness

One of my big goals for November is to focus on more cross-training so this week I finally got a chance to check out Orangetheory Fitness. And, let me just say, it was love at first workout! OTF offers first-timers a free class so I signed up for my first class on Wednesday. The theme of the class was “Power” – it was fun and challenging, and I really liked the vibe, so I was in! I followed up with my second class on Friday and can’t wait to go back next week!

Other November Goals

On my other November goals, so far it’s a bit of a mixed bag. While my plank streak is holding strong on Day 17, my eating habits are, at best, still a work in progress. And, on the race calendar planning, I’ve got my first 3 races for 2020 by registering for the New England 10 Miler Series. I love 10-mile races so I’m really looking forward to this!

So tell me, have you registered for any 2020 races yet? Ever tried Orangetheory?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

  1. I’m not surprised you’re loving OTF so far. I think I’d love it too and that is why I’m staying away hahaha! How exciting to get some 2020 races on the calendar! I’ve got ZOOMA Bermuda and that’s about it.

  2. Looks like everyone is all about the OTF lately! Enjoy your classes 🙂

  3. Your new love, OTF, reminds me of how I feel about CrossFit! It’s fun, it’s challenging, and it’s different!

  4. NiceI I love 10 mile races and hope to do more next year. Registration for our local marathon for next year starts tomorrow and I can’t wait to sign up (for the half).

  5. I wish we had OTF in my area! Glad to see your running is going strong. I have two official races on the calendar, and a third one soon (when the Leprechaun Chase registration opens in a couple weeks).

  6. I’ve not registered for anything so far as I have a complicated series of logistics all hinging on whether I get a running club place in the London Marathon. I practically need a flow chart for it! So once the draw has been done on the 30th I will know more!

And well done on starting OTF, many of the people whose blogs I follow are really into it. That or peleton. I have been enjoying getting back into Spin classes a lot myself.

  7. I love the 10 mile distance too. I may have to join you for one of those races!

Welcome to the OTF tribe 🙂

  8. great that you are plugging right along Michelle! I wish we had OTF I would definitely love to try it but… alas we don’t!! I love the 10Mile distance as well! I’m about to sign up for Chicago again but that’s all I have on the plan so far for 2020!

  9. I haven’t yet drank the OTF koolaid (and I probably won’t) but I’m with you on the afternoon runs when I can (lucky that I can).

I’ve never done a 10 miler. I will have to look into that — Stowe isn’t that far from us, it’s not to much after our anniversary, and we often went there on our anniversary when we lived in VT. Cool!

    Our 15k is actually almost a 10 miler . . .

    • I do love the 10M but they’ve been hard to find around here until recently – now I feel like they’re making a comeback. You should keep Stowe in mind.
