Another week in the books and my juggling act continues. Here’s how the week went down…
Monday – I was lucky enough to once again be one of the 9,700 volunteers at the Boston Marathon. This year I was assigned to runner screening at the bus loading from Boston out to Hopkinton. Despite the crazy weather conditions, it was great being out there.
Tuesday – With taking Monday off, my work day was really hectic, but I managed to get some time on my mat.
Wednesday – A late afternoon 5K.
Thursday – Unplanned rest day. I hadn’t been sleeping very well all week and it definitely caught up with me. I kept putting my workout off until “later” hoping I’d feel better but by the time I actually did it was too late in the day and I had to get ready for my youngest son’s concert.
Friday – These lovelies arrived in Thursday’s mail and I couldn’t wait to take them out for a spin. 5 miles right out of the box was a good start!
Saturday – Strength work.
Sunday – 5 more miles before heading out to enjoy Easter festivities with family.
I’m hoping that during this upcoming week I can get back to consistently running early in the morning. Overall, I find I do better if I can run earlier in the day – of course, that means I’ve got to get more sleep the night before!
How was your week? Early morning running yay or nay?
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.
I had no idea there were so many volunteers for the marathon! I bet your exhaustion caught up with you. Those cool looking shoes would have me running out the door as well. Have a great week and thanks for linking up!

It is pretty crazy how many volunteers it takes to pull off that race!
I love those new sneakers – they are so pretty!
It’s awesome that you get to volunteer during Boston Marathon weekend! There’s just something magical about those huge marathon weekends.
You’re so right there really is something about those big marathon weekends – the energy is pretty electric!
Early morning running? YAY!!!! 😉 I’m really jealous you had a front row seat to all of the Boston excitement. And, those new shoes are very pretty; the fact that they were a big hit on your feet is secondary LOL
Ha! I know what you mean about the shoes – they’re so fun…I would have been seriously disappointed if they didn’t feel good on the run 😉
But what a fun week! I love that volunteer jacket. Maybe I’ll have to volunteer–at least I would be AT the Boston Marathon! I’m sure it’s going to feel good to be able to settle down this week.

The volunteer jackets are definitely a nice touch!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a quieter week 🙂
Lucky you. I bet volunteering at Boston was amazing.
I do much better when I run in the morning. That’s why I race better than train. But I can’t seem to drag myself out of bed and after work, I can have company…so there is that too.
Having company on your run is always nice! I’m struggling with running out of steam or motivation as the day wears on – running with someone would definitely help!
One of the years i ran Boston. our bus loaders were fraternity guys. They were fun! Early running is the only way I can get it done before all hell breaks loose. Plus now it’s gonna be hot soon so there’s that to avoid.

Oh yes once the heat and humidity show up it has to be early morning or I don’t have a prayer of getting my runs done!
Ah thanks for volunteering at Boston! I was there to cheer this year and am always amazed by how much the city comes out for it. I love the color of the new shoes too – super fresh, super fast 🙂

Thanks Becca 🙂
I love those shoes, they’re so fun! I generally do my runs after work during the Winter and before work in the Summer, just due to the extra sunlight and the heat. I was just thinking I might have to transition to morning runs this week or next week. The first couple weeks are the hardest, but then I get used to it.

I’m with you on the need to start transitioning to early morning runs – those first couple of runs can be a little rough!
The Boston marathon organizers gave you a cool jacket. I remember volunteering for years for the Chicago Marathon back in the 1990s, we got nada LOL. Maybe they give nice gear now.

Yeah the jacket is a nice perk! This is my fourth one and they’re a different color every year!
Wow! It must be quite an experience to be a volunteer at THE Boston Marathon. That’s just so awesome! Most of my runs are in the evening because it doesn’t work for me in the mornings when my kids are at school. Luckily they have a 4 week school break now which means I get to do a lot more morning runs now. But yes, early bedtime is critical of those morning runs are to happen! Those asics shoes look amazing – I run in asics but I haven’t seen any around here with that beautiful design!

While this model of Asics has been out for a bit I think this design is fairly new. I just thought they were so fun and I’ve been hunting for a lighter shoe for speedwork.
amazing to volunteer at the Boston marathon! but I can imagine that everything you’ve been doing lately you are just a little exhausted. I love those shoes!!! I’m really curious if I can wear something like that at some point.
I would love to run early but I usually feel very sluggish in the morning. let’s see if I change my tune once I’m able to actually run again!

You are so right – the pace of my schedule has definitely caught up with me! I definitely want to work on heading out earlier in the mornings but am going to really have to work on getting to bed at a much more reasonable hour!
Pretty shoes! I am all about the colors when it comes to shoes. 🙂 I am also a morning runner. I am up around 4:30 am (or sometimes later depending on how long I have to run) and out the door by 5 so I can be back by 6. I know that if I don’t run in the morning, I won’t want to do it after work.

Wow that’s great that you are up and out so early! Do you go to bed fairly early?
Those shoes are gorgeous! I bet being at Boston was amazing. The runners must have been so nervous and excited when you saw them.

I really got to see the range of emotions as the runners were saying goodbye to family and heading towards the buses – joy, nervousness, excitement, and even tears!
I am all for early morning running. I like to get it out of the way and be done.
I love that you were able to volunteer at Boston. It’s always so great to be able to give back, especially in such a huge forum. Well done!

Thanks Jenn – I always try to volunteer at some smaller local races, but being at Boston is always a special experience!
I think it would be so fun to volunteer at Boston (or any race, for that fact)! It sounds like you needed that mid-week rest break, so I’m glad you took it. I love those shoes!
Thanks Linda – the shoes are definitely fun! Hopefully, I’ll continue to love them as I add miles.
