October Madness!
Is that a thing? It sure felt like it around here this month. Juggling long stints of single parenting, multiple work events, and lots of school activities left my head spinning and feeling a little discombobulated. And, while there was also some fun with family and friends mixed in, I am finishing October t-i-r-e-d!
On the fitness front, my schedule left me in a state of “do what you can when you can.” While there was some cross training on the Arc Trainer and a little time on the yoga mat, I stumbled on my consistency with my PT exercises as the month wore on, and my running success yo-yo’d. I seem to stall out around 4 miles, before the radiating pain in my right hammy flares. As such, my longest run of the month was just 6 miles – and, if you follow me on Instagram then you know that the wheels really came off the wagon on Sunday’s run and had me questioning my ability to return to 13.1 any time soon.
So, as we turn the page to November, the goal is pretty simple – be consistent! My schedule should be much quieter so that should help. I’ll also be spending some quality time with my massage therapist and checking in with the physical therapist. Will see if my mileage can be increased safely in time, but I’m determined to not let my lack of running cast a shadow over all I can do.
I’m joining Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap.
And, with Erika, Marcia, and Patty for Tuesdays on the Run.
Such a bummer about that cranky hammy….hoping things go better (and feel better) in November.

Thanks Kim!
I”m so sorry to hear that you’re still struggling. I think you are wise to dial it back and address the nagging issues. That’s what the off season is all about!

Thanks, Wendy – definitely frustrating because I feel like I’ve had more of an “off season” than “on season” this year. I’m kinda over this getting old thing LOL!
Bah! I’m sorry that dang hammy issue won’t quit. Crazy how you can make it 4 miles before it really protests. You’re so right about working around it.

The whole 4-mile thing is just bizarre, isn’t it?! Maybe it’s a sign I should be running more 5Ks 🙂
I could use another massage. Every time I get one I always think why don’t I get these more often. They are so relaxing, but can get pretty pricey. I guess that is why I don’t…haha.
They are pricey, but so worth it!
Here’s hoping that a quieter November will help out! It sounds like you’ve got a good plan with massage and PT.

Love the sloth graphic! 🙂 Consistency is a great goal. Good luck with November!

Thanks Laurie – really hoping to string together a few good weeks.
Sorry your hamstring has been giving you trouble! It can be tough to be consistent with a busy schedule. When I get busy I seem to stop doing everything other than running for workouts. Hope you have a great November!

I’m sorry to hear that your injury is still giving you grief 🙁 I know how frustrating that can be, but I like your plan to stay consistent in November. I always find it hard to stick to a routine, especially around the holidays!
Also that sloth meme made me laugh so hard!

That sloth is so me these last couple of weeks! LOL!
I’m sorry your hammie is still protesting. I know that frustration well. October was my month to return to consistent running. For the most part, I succeeded — and in the midst of the stressful process of putting our home on the market. It really IS about doing what you can when you can! I hope November will be your month! Thanks for linking!
Consistent running while putting your house on the market is a major accomplishment in my book! Hope you have a great November!
That sounds frustrating: I echo the others in lauding your dialling it back and talking to a specialist about it. I’m sure you will get sorted and strong again really soon!
