Happy Friday!
I am so ready for this weekend to begin! It’s always nice to kick things off with a little catch up over coffee. I’m grabbing an iced one today – how about you?
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that the heat and humidity have returned with a vengeance! With nothing to train for at the moment, I can feel my motivation to face the swampy mess fading fast. I’ve been eyeing a couple of fall races and once I get a handle on my husband’s work travel, it will be time to hit the registration button.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m now officially living in a house of teenagers! My “baby” turned 13 last weekend, and the older brother turns 16 on Monday. Enough said…heaven help me!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that after 2 weekends of hard work, the patio is in and we’re enjoying it. Now I’m on the hunt for the right furniture and some decorative plantings to finish it off. It’s been a great spot to enjoy a cocktail (or two) and an evening fire.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I am really looking forward to taking some time off at the end of this month. I’m starting to feel fried at work and let’s just say some days I’m short on patience!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that while I can’t wait to get to my time off I’m not ready for the summer to end and school to begin. These days are just flying by far too quickly for me, and there is still so much I want to do before getting back to the routine of homework and school sports. If I could just make August about 2 or 3 weeks longer that would be perfect 😉
What would you tell me over coffee? What have you got planned for August?
I’m joining up with my friends Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date, as well as linking up with Rachel and Meranda and Lacey for the Friday Five.
a house full of teens is always interesting! Enjoy your time off this month. Thanks for joining up for coffee this weekend

Interesting…yes that’s one word for it 😉
Yay for vacations! Love your patio. My deck so needs to be fixed!
I am going to NYC for a weekend and away with tennis friends in the Adirondacks for another weekend – that’s my August.

Sounds like fun – enjoy your weekend getaways!
I love having nice outdoor spaces! It’s one of my favorite things about my own house.

Thanks! I’m looking forward to it!
You know I feel you on the teenager thing. Buckle in! I am coveting your patio. Yeah we have a deck and I love it. But you can’t put a firepit on a wooden deck. I soooo wanna sit by the fire!

Having a fire pit was the driving force behind the patio. I must admit I’ve spent almost no time on our deck since the patio went in.
Oh boy! House full of teenagers? My heart goes out to you! Hopefully you’re able to find some peace and quiet occasionally. Also, yay for patio! Good luck with getting some awesome outdoor furniture. Maybe you’ll find some sales since summer is “ending” and all the stores are in “back to school” mode!

I’m hoping to catch a good sale – I’ve been trolling websites!
I always feel like i need a vacation from my vacation, because even when I go on vacation it is so jammed packed with all sorts of activities that I need to recover from it when I get home. Nice patio! That will be perfect for those crisp fall nights, if they ever come!

Your patio looks gorgeous! You deserve to relax and enjoy it. Summer is flying by — my son went back to college this week. 🙁

Wow – can’t believe your son went back already!
Your patio looks awesome! Have fun with these teen years 😉 It’s hard to believe I’m almost out of that forest LOL
Since you’re almost done with the teen years you’ll have to share some wisdom for survival 😉
Your patio looks great–I love sitting outside at night but it’s been so hot! It’s nice to sit out when it’s cooler with the fire going.
The teen years are like the toddler years–completely unpredictable! The ride is bumpier for some of us than others, but that’s why we have friends (and wine) to commiserate with.
I wish we lived closer then we could hang on my patio and commiserate 😉
I have not had teenagers in the house, but I feel your pain. The days when we had 3 teenage boys were sometimes white-knuckle hold-on-to -your-seat kind of days!
Your patio is beautiful! And iced coffee sounds soooo appealing!

I’m definitely preparing for some of those hold-on-to-your-seat days! LOL!
Raising teenagers definitely doesn’t sound easy–hang in there!!
I definitely kindasorta want to move away to a beach for a while too–I want a break!
A beach vacation would be a nice compromise, right?
Love the memes you included ! I can totally relate to the one about teenagers and about finding a new job…Haha!!!
Thanks Angela – they gave me a good chuckle 😉
While having all teenagers in the house brings an entirely new set of challenges, it is also really fun to watch them ‘grow’ into who they are and get to know them as their pre-adult personalities begin to develop.
I’m telling you the summer’s heat and humidity have just been brutal and if it were not for the shade of these trails, I would have most certainly not signed up for any race until at least November or December!
So glad that you guys are enjoying your patio area. My deck is most definitely my refuge and where I enjoy my regular evening glass of wine ….or two, maybe three! Lol

For as much as I complain about the summer heat and humidity I really don’t know how you southerner runners do it! I need the fall to make an appearance soon!
I am not a huge coffee drinker, but pass me a Chai tea latte made with almond milk and I am all good!
Surprisingly the humidity and heat have been lower the past few days here in Texas!
Ohh your patio looks really good! I love a good fire pit!
I bet you are SO ready for your vacation!!
Oh I am so ready for that vacation 🙂
It’s been brutal the last couple of weeks! If I weren’t training for something, I’d probably be running on my treadmill more.
I hear you on the vacation. It had been waaaaay too long since our last one. But now they’re coming kind of fast & furious (short little ones).

Your patio looks amazing!!
Thanks Kim!
Enjoy your vacation! Your patio looks great… once it cools off sipping some cocktails in front of a fire in that pit would be so relaxing!
Thanks Vicki – that patio will be getting a lot of use for sure!
The patio looks great! Congratulations on finishing it. Have fun shopping for patio furniture and decor.
I’m not ready for school to start back up yet. The kids used to be out until after Labor Day where I live, but now they go back the last week of August. It’s too early!

Thanks Kim – it’s nice to be on to the fun part of decorating 🙂
I agree, I’m not ready to see summer come to an end either. Why do the sunny summer days have to fly by as quickly as they do, and the dreary winter days always seem to drag on?!?!?
