Happy Sunday!
I’m just off the plane from such a fun weekend in Chicago hanging with some of my favorite runner/blogger friends! I can’t stop smiling! More on those shenanigans coming in a separate post along with a recap of RnR Chicago.
But first, let’s quickly catch up on the week that was. Since this was “race week”, I was super tentative about my knee – there was lots of heat and ice treatment, and very little running.
Monday – Physical Therapy and gait analysis. The appointment was a long one with lots of single leg squats, glute bridges, and band work. Abby the PT also filmed me running and I will get the analysis from her team at my next appointment.
Tuesday – Yoga. I’ve not been hitting my yoga mat nearly enough! My body so needed this stretch.
Wednesday – 3-mile run. When my alarm went off in the morning I was so tentative about my hip and knee that I spun myself in knots and never got out the door. It bothered me all day that I had let fear get the better of me so I headed to the gym after work to hit the mill. It was a surprisingly solid run – a win and a reminder to never give up!
Thursday – PT exercises and time with my massage therapist
Friday – Travel to Chicago! I still managed to get 5.5 miles walking in (according to my Garmin)
Saturday & Sunday – Remix Challenge – RnR Chicago 5K on Saturday and 10K on Sunday. Given how my knee and hip have been feeling, being able to get through both races was a huge win!
Daily planking also happened – my streak is still going at Day 203. Kim and I even planked together in Chicago for Rachel’s Plank Challenge.
And that’s a wrap! The plan for this week is to take a rest from running. I’ll focus instead on kickboxing, strength training, and yoga to give my hip a much-needed break.
I’m linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap – I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting both of these great ladies this weekend. Stay tuned for my Chicago recap!
Tell me something about your week
Back to back 5k and 10k! Solid weekend!

Yeah I was pretty happy to put that many miles together given my hip!
I think you did great despite the crankiness of your knee and hip. You deserve a week off, while wearing those RnR medals, with ZERO guilt 😉
Ha! I like the idea of wearing the medals around while I hang out 😉
Well done! That “rest” week does sound like a good idea.

I”m so glad you were able to run your races and that your hip and knee were quiet. Now to figure out what is going on with them…
It was wonderful to finally meet you. I feel like we’ve been friends forever, altho I would have liked to spend more time together. Guess we’ll just have to do it again! <3
Yes we definitely will! 😉
Such an epic weekend! Take care of that hip and knee this week.

Thanks – it really was such a good time!
Can I just say I love that you did your plank with Kim!
This weekend was a blast and it was so nice to connect with you again. I’ve gotta make my way up to Boston next year for a race. Hope to see you in Philly in September!

Philly is coming up fast so I better make a decision on that one. And yes, I’m going to get you up to Boston next year!
So much fun!
I’m so glad you were able to get through both races. I was really thinking of you and how your knee and hip would hold up, and I hope you’re not feeling any residual discomfort today!

Thanks for thinking of me 🙂 I really surprised myself being able to run both races.
That remix challenge sounds so fun, and I’m glad to hear your hip held up! I’m with you on getting some yoga in this week; it’s much needed.
Yoga is one of those things I know I need to do more of but never make the time! Gotta change that!
What a fun week! Well, maybe not the gait analysis, but everything else! We took the kiddos up to the mountains for some hiking and chill time.
Love hiking – hope you had a good time!
Aww, thats great you are planking with Kim!
I bet that massage felt good after your issues the day before.
Congrats on getting through both races this weekend!

I’m so curious about the gait analysis too – this whole injury thing has gotten old!
I’m so glad your knee and hip held out for the races, and so especially glad to have met you! Next to my youngest son, you give the best hugs EVER!!!
I hope you can get the answers you need from your analysis! I know it’s been frustrating not being able to figure out what is going on. I am so, so happy I was able to meet you in Chicago. Like Wendy said, there just wasn’t enough time… which is the perfect excuse to do it again! Thanks for linking!
I’m so glad to hear that your knee held up for both races. It sounds like your conservative approach to the week paid off during race weekend. Yay!
