My boys are done for the school year and we are officially shifting into summer mode (even if Mother N hasn’t gotten with the plan yet)
While I don’t really have a summer bucket list, there are some summer staples for me that are just a must:
It’s just not summer unless I get to spend some time at the beach.
It’s just not summer unless there’s some family hiking.
It’s just not summer unless I can overindulge in some farm fresh ice cream.
And, speaking of farms, it’s just not summer unless I spend some time at the local farmer’s markets.
It’s just not summer unless there’s alfresco dining, whether at home on the deck or a restaurant’s outdoor patio.
Do you have some staples of summer? Tell me something that is a summer must for you.
I’m joining Rachel and Lacey & Meranda for the Friday Five link-up!
Ah, I love this. It’s like a mini summer-vacation!
It’s not summer unless I get to dig my toes in the sand.

Hopefully, we’ll both get some beach time this summer!
I freaking love summer! I hope you get to do all of those things that make summer “summer” for you. For me, it’s not summer unless I go to some outdoor concerts, go to Knoebels (a local amusement park), and go to the beach!
I haven’t been to an outdoor concert in years – that would be so fun!
Summer here means hitting up the frozen custard stand that’s only open in summer. We’ve already done that too many times to count! Can you believe our farmer’s markets don’t open for another week or 2?

Wow I’m surprised the markets start so late. I hope the custard stand has opened – priorities, right? 😉
I would say ice cream and the beach are definitely on my list. Lots of grilled veggies and pool time. Have a fun weekend!

Thanks Deborah – hope you had a good one too!
What is farm fresh ice cream? Is it home made? I love Alfresco dinning but don’t get to do it much when I’m with the hubs because he always says its too hot!…lol. I say we don’t get to do it all year so just enjoy it!
I hope you get to do the things on your list that make summer “summer” for you! -m
We’ve got a farm not too far from us and they make ice cream right on the premises. I swear there’s something about it you just can’t beat!
Hiking, camping, swimming, popsicles, picnics, running, playing with friends… We love summer. When I was growing up my parents had a boat and for me, it wasn’t summer unless we spent several weekends on the boat! They sold it so we don’t do that anymore but I loved that so much growing up.

Oh I bet those weekends on the boat were a lot of fun!
Summer is my favorite season by a landslide. For me a staple is sitting out on my deck with a good book.

I agree – hanging out on the deck with a good book is a must!
Summer for me is sitting out on the deck in the backyard, reading a book. Eating alfresco. Going boating. Sitting with my feet in the sand at the beach.
All of that sounds like the makings of a good summer to me!
Summer means lots of sunrise runs, fresh tomatoes from the garden, and lots of sweaty running gear to wash 🙂

LOL about the laundry – and yes, early morning runs are an absolute must!
Yay for summer! That ice cream looks amazing, and I’m super hopeful that I’ll get to go check out some farmer’s markets soon!
I hope you do! Have a great summer Farrah 🙂
Your summer sounds amazing. Can I come summer with you? 🙂
Absolutely! Come visit 🙂
Definitely not summer without a trip to the beach (even if here in NL)! Also not summer if not sitting outside on a terrace drinking a glass of wine or a very cold beer. And totally with you on the ice cream thing… though here it’s not summer without a few visits to the best gelato stand in all of Gelderland (our province) – luckily it’s right around the corner from home 🙂

Oh my gosh having that gelato stand just around the corner would be a dangerous thing for my waistline! 😉
For me, it’s not summer unless there’s a trip to the beach. And a trip to the beach usually involves at least one ice cream outing. 🙂

Beach and ice cream sounds like the perfect combination to me!
I agree about indulging in ice cream in the summer. I also love eating all the summer fruits like watermelon and berries!

So many good summer fruits – I can’t get enough!
