It’s June 1st people! I cannot believe the pace at which 2018 is clipping by. Let’s snag a moment to sit down and catch up over coffee.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that we survived “May Madness” in my house – it was a mix of chaos, fun, and stress. Today is the last day of school for my youngest, and for my high schooler, he’s just one more exam away from wrapping up what has been a very challenging year. We’re all ready to collectively exhale and head into the summer.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m obsessed with transforming the outdoor spaces around my house. I’ve been clearing flower beds and hauling mulch like crazy. My mom and I made our first of many trips to one of our favorite local nurseries for some new additions for the garden, and of course, I wanted to buy everything! I’ve convinced my husband this is the year to revamp our tiny patio and I’ve got ideas about expanding the border gardens. Ah, the dangers of Pinterest 🙂
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m eyeing one more big addition for the yard – a She Shed! I have visions of a quiet spot for yoga, meditation…to breathe. I’ve got a corner of the yard staked out. It won’t happen this summer, but I’m a woman on a mission so heaven help my husband!
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I got a Kindle Paperwhite for Mother’s Day and I’m looking to load it up with some good reads.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that on the fitness front I’m getting bored with my cross-training – or perhaps I’m just growing bored with my gym. I’m feeling like I need to mix things up a little, but not sure what I want to try – barre class? OrangeTheory? Kickboxing?
I’m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date.
I’m also linking up with Meranda, Lacey, and Rachel for the Friday Five.
What would you tell me over coffee? Any suggestions for my summer reading list?
I have an IPad but I haven’t doenloaded a book on there forever. Now that I am starting to travel more for work I may have to add some. I would like to read that new book from Amby Burfoot.

I want to read Amby’s book too!
Ohh a She Shed sounds amazing! Always nice to have a designated area that is “just yours”.
I understand what you mean about feeling bored with cross training. Maybe try some new machines at the gym? I’ve heard nothing but good things about Orangetheory.

I’ve heard good things about OTF too – trying to see if I can make their class schedule work.
I’ve seen a lot of talk of these she sheds lately! What will you put/do in there? I wish I was a green thumb alas not so much. Thanks for linking up for coffee have a great weekend

I think the shed could be a great space for yoga and meditation!
I own a landscaping company so transforming yards is so my thing! Its so fun and satisfying right?!!

It really is so rewarding to have a vision for a space and then see it come to life.
I want a she shed too! Except our yard is an oasis for ants. 🙁 Seriously, they’re everywhere.
We just dropped several hundred $$ at the nursery. I got my tiny garden planted, and my husband expanded some planting areas — mainly because he hates mowing the lawn — so we got some shrubs for that, too.
Man, it all adds up fast!

My hubby LOVES moving the lawn. I think he does it ever other day and you have to compliment him on it.

Oh yes those plants can add up quickly!!
A shed shed. That is way cool. But I’m not home often enough. I did take over both of the bedrooms when my stepsons moved out.
I love gardening. I only just begun.

It’s nice that you were able to claim the extra bedrooms – always nice when you can have a space that just for you.
I never heard of a she shed! How fun! I love doing yard work, fixing up my garden, etc. I used to mow the lawn but now my husband does that. I miss it though.

Mowing the lawn is the one thing I’m happy to let my husband do – he’s way more into the lawn than I am!
I’ve never heard of a She Shed but I think I want one! To read all my books. I just read How to Walk Away, which is the hot summer book and was pretty good! And don’t forget about Deena Kastor’s book. Oh, and Educated was unbelieveable! Enjoy!
Fantastic! Thanks for the suggestions!
She Sheds rae the trend! A gal I know has one (but she uses it for her funky boutique business). I have seen them all over Fb and Pinterest, too. I need to do some major work on my flowers…..
I was looking at She Sheds on Pinterest the other day and got completely sucked in!
Oh my gosh, dooooo BARRE!!! It’s such a challenging and amazing workout. And kickboxing! That’s next on my list.

Barre is a great workout – I did a combination barre and pilates class and it just about killed me…but in a good way 😉 Kickboxing’s been on my wishlist for a while now.
Congrats to your boys! When you finish your yard, you can come work on mine. I can’t be out there 5 minutes without getting mosquito bites. Argh.
You know I love Orange Theory. 😉

I thought of you when the OTF opened not too far from me 🙂
You’re a girl after my heart with all that gardening and a She Shed is icing on the cake! Can’t wait to see how all your hard work looks when its done. I adore puttering around outside. So good for the soul!

It is good for the soul! Everyone needs a little outdoor oasis!
A She Shed for yoga and meditation sounds amazing! That would help deal with the May Madness (and any madness in other months…).
I’m looking forward to seeing pictures of your border gardens. 🙂

I’ll definitely post some when they’re finished!
A She-Shed!!! I think it would be so cool to have one! We are getting a shed this summer but it will be to hold all the yard stuff. Maybe I should tell my husband the shed is all mine! ;o)
Ha ha – there you go! Claim it before the yard stuff takes over 😉
I’ve never heard of a She Shed before. It sounds like a fun and interesting concept.

I hadn’t heard of them until just recently either, but now I’m all in!
Oooh, I need a she shed too! My husband would surely scoff and say the whole house is my she shed. Lol
I’ve heard that orange theory is an awesome workout! That would be a fun way to change things up!
Orange Theory is definitely on my must-try list – gotta see if I can make their class schedule work with mine.
I love the gardening that you’re doing around your home! I’ve always wanted to get more into it with a flower and veggie garden but just have never made the time for it!
I got into gardening a few years ago and really find it kind of addictive.
Your She Shed sounds awesome – I think we all need a little sanctuary getaway at home! I’ve been helping Bret with his gardening outdoors…we don’t always see eye to eye but I’m glad we’re working on it together!
I’m always one encouraging someone to take a barre class – it always keeps me stimulated!

Barre is a great workout for sure. I was taking a class a while back but my favorite instructor left and I stopped.
I am so inspired with my lawn too, now that things are so pretty and blooming here- but I am terrilble at growing things- like they all die! But never a quitter, I put myself through it every year!
I find you’ve just got to keep experimenting with plants – some grow much better for me than others.
A SheShed sounds amazing! And you could even create a couple of bordering flower beds around it too! Lol
I get bored with my workouts easily and have to switch things up periodically too …lately I’ve been really enjoying the indoor pool at my gym!
Enjoy your summer Michelle!
Hmmm I like the idea of the bordering flower beds – a great excuses to buy more plants and flowers 😉
