Happy Monday!
I was going to say “Happy Spring” but as I type this I’m watching snow fall again. Seriously?!? Hard to believe that I ran yesterday in a long sleeve top and skirt and at times felt too warm. After dealing with 3 nor’easters during the month of March I have given up trying to predict what Mother N will do next!
So with the new month laid out before me, it’s time for a quick wrap-up of the month that was March.
Running – I fell short of my 70-mile goal thanks to the aforementioned weather and to one very irritable piriformis. This pain in the butt (literally) cost me some time on the road and led to a DNS for the Black Cat 10. On the upside, thanks to babying the heck out of said muscle and doing my PT exercises like it was my job, I finished the month feeling much stronger and running pain-free!
Strength Work – In addition to all of the PT work, my plank streak continued (Day 91!), and I managed one strength session weekly.
Cross-Training – With less running, I spent some quality time on the Arc Trainer and the bike. I also managed a weekly yoga session following a program with Daily Om.
All-in-all, not a bad month. My April goals are pretty straightforward – add more mileage while keeping the piriformis happy and make it to the starting line of the Portland 10 Miler. And hopefully, in the process, the spring weather will finally come and stick around for a while.
I’m joining Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap.
How was your March? Has Spring made an appearance where you are?
Awesome job Michelle! Glad to hear that your injury is feeling better and congrats on your plank streak! I just started a plank streak yesterday so I’m on day 2, lol
Mother N can suck it! There’s no reason I should have driven to work in the snow this morning. I was hella angry!

Keep that plank streak going 😉 I’ve got my kids reminding me now if I forget! LOL!
we still have crazy weather here too just hoping that snow flake on the weather app for this weekend goes away!

Thankfully the snow held off for you!
That’s great that the PT exercises have been working and you ended the month feeling stronger!

The PT exercises are tedious, but they are helping!
Seriously, where is Spring? Didn’t it officially start almost two weeks ago…at least that’s what my calendar indicates. Thankfully, we don’t have any snow…but it’s definitely cold enough (barely above freezing, but with a “feels like” well below). Glad your piriformis is being nice 😉

Thanks Kim – I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to behave.
Spring is slowly and painfulling arriving here. March was a good month, I reached a number of my goals. Great job woth your planks and PT.
Congrats on hitting your goals!
Hope you heal quickly and that April has better weather than March.
Thanks Darlene – getting there slowly but surely!
Black Cat race aside, you had a pretty good month! I so hoped it’d be more spring-like here when we returned from spring break alas that did not happen. Still freezing with snow in the forecast. I’m so done.

Thanks Marcia – hopefully winter will leave us all alone soon!
Wow – a 91 day plank streak! That’s fantastic. I’m so glad you’re running pain free now — let’s keep that streak up too. 😉

Absolutely – that’s really the streak I want to get going 🙂
NIce month! I’m having some of that butt pain now–boo! I’m hoping it goes away. The weather can go away too.
Oh no I hope whatever that pain is doesn’t stick around for you!
If I could send some of our warm weather your way, I certainly would…. I feel bad for you guys!
Glad your pain in the butt is getting better and fingers crossed it stays quiet as you add your mileage!

Happy April! Spring is here, and summer is right behind her. I have mixed feelings.
I’m sorry about your DNS but it’s great that you’re feeling stronger than before. That will help you so much going forward. Keep up the great work and PT!

Our biggest snows sometimes come in April and May! I try not to get too excited for summer until after Mother’s Day. Of course, last year I planted my flowers on Mother’s Day and the following weekend I was frantically covering them with tarps as 15 inches of snow fell. Lol. Gotta love crazy weather.

Yay for running pain free by the end of the month! Yes, spring is here down south. It’s been up and down lately. I’m ready for consistent weather. Either stay hot or stay cold!
Ah no you had a DNS for the Black Cat! That blows! But I understand – it is a totally pain in the butt!!! I am glad in any case that the exercise helped and you ended the month feeling stronger.
I did not realise you had a plank streak!! How long do you do the plank, do you have a set rule for yourself?
Cross Training is also good for us runners. At least there is something else you can do that keeps you fit!
My month was meh. Some good things and some not so good things. We are plugging along trying to get a rhythm again. The weather keeps changing daily. Warm. Cold. Sunny. Rain. Wind. Warm again. Cold again. I am ready for it to normalise!!!! But this is the Netherlands, there is no real normal here!
