After almost 2 weeks off from running, I started the slow road back to re-building this runner.
Monday – My usual rest day
Tuesday – 3-mile run. I left the watch at home and took this one at an easy-peasy pace. No pain!
Wednesday – A brisk 3-mile walk with my friend E and 5 minutes of planking to kick off my November goals.
Thursday – PT exercises, more planking, and a 1-mile walk with my pup for the #RunNovemberChallenge (so nice to have the option to run or walk for this challenge).
Friday – 3-mile run. While I was not happy to see the temps back into the upper 70s, I was thrilled that all the body parts played nice. (And, yes the planking continued).
Saturday – Apple-picking with the family. We don’t usually go this late in the season, but schedules just didn’t cooperate until now. Happily, there was no shortage of apples! (And I did get a mile in covering the orchard to keep my streak going)
Sunday – Another 3-miler to round out the week. I paid no attention to my Garmin while running so it was a nice surprise to finish and see progressive splits.
All-in-all a pretty good first week! The plan this week is for more short and easy running and some time in the gym with the kettlebells. I’m joining I’m joining Holly & Tricia for the Weekly Wrap – this is a great link up for support and motivation!
Huge congrats to everyone who ran the NYC Marathon today! And, what can you say about Shalane Flannagan?! Pure awesomeness!
How was your week? Did you watch the marathon?
Way to get it done!!
We went apple picking last week. So much fun!! We picked Asian Fuji. …..so yummy. Been eating g the with every meal…lol!!
Have a great week!
Thanks Tamieka. I have a feeling I’ll be eating a lot of them over the next couple of week! LOL!
Great to hear you’re on that comeback trail! Shalane in NYCM was total sweetness! Made my month to see her win!

Could not have envisioned a better end to that race!
Woot! The rally back has begun 😉 Sadly, I did not watch any of the NYC coverage, but saw a few highlights here and there. Shalane is a beast, and SOOO deserving of her amazing victory 😉

It was nice to see her get the pay off for all of the hard work she’s put in for so long!
I’m so glad to see you making your way back! Best news I’ve seen all day–well, except for Shalane!

Ha! Yes she is!
Looks like you had a great week or re-building. I love that you are easing back into running with a few shorter mile runs this week.

I’m enjoying these short easy runs – it’s no nice to run and not be in pain!
What a great week of easing yourself back into the game! I need to leave my Garmin at home but I just can’t seem to let it go. I didn’t get to watch the NYC Marathon but heard bits and pieces on the car radio. What an exciting finish!

There is something very freeing about running sans Garmin. I’m not sure I could do it for a longer run, but for these short runs, I don’t miss it.
I’m glad to see you’re feeling back to yourself!! Phew! Nice and easy miles are great for an easy comeback.

Thanks Deb – have a good week!
Nice rebuilding week! I love those runs where I don’t look at my pace. In fact, it’s about the only way I can get through long runs these days. 😉 I’ve never been apple picking. It sounds fun! What will you bake? Thanks for linking!
I’m not much of a baker – lucky for me my husband is! He makes great pies 🙂
I didn’t get to see the marathon! I was so excited to hear that Shalane won, though! She’s my favorite!
It was a good and crazy week! Loving this time of year and all the travel that will be coming with it!

I love this time of year too! So busy but so enjoyable too!
I’m not a runner, but I totally celebrated Shalane’s victory. What a cool moment to witness.
It really was!
Great job with your workouts this week! I am glad to see that you are back at it.
I caught the replay of the marathon – how exciting! It was a great race. I just love Shalane!

Thanks Sara – feels good to be getting back into the swing of it.
I actually did not watch the marathon Sunday as I was traveling back from my runcation and marathon in Savannah, GA. But I’m awed by Shalane’s finish and her win! What an awesome epic moment for her!
I’m glad you’re getting back into running; not taking the GPS is a good idea. I may do that on my first run back from the marathon in a few weeks.
Congrats on your marathon!
I hope your hip will cooperate with your re-building plan. And I hope you can be happy with the level of exercise that makes sense for you right now.

Thanks Mary. It’s all about taking it slow and steady.
One of the things I love about fall running is having my Garmin under my long sleeves. I don’t have to look at it and if I do its sometimes too much effort to move the sleeves and sometimes gloves. It’s nice to just run and no stress about your pace.
Absolutely! I would like to get more comfortable learning to run by feel and less with my eyes glued to my watch.
Happy to hear your runs all felt good!

Nice week! Hope your runs continue to get better! Shalane was amazing! So awesome to see her win!
