Runfessions – July Style

It’s the last Friday of the month…so you know that means it’s time to join Marcia for runfessions! So let’s get to it, shall we?

Runfession #1 – OK let’s just get this first one out of the way….I runfess that I’m turning into a weather whiner. This summer’s humidity is kicking my arse. I know I’m not alone in this…but I am just so over it!

Runfession #2 – My next race, the Wicked Half, is now just 7 weeks away so I runfess I probably need to start doing “long runs” of more than just 6 miles.

Runfession #3 – I runfess that I may have picked a goal race in November in part to avoid heaving training in this heat.

Runfession #4 – I admit that I haven’t done a great job lately of paying attention to my eating (or the summer cocktails). Well, good grief people I got on the scale the other day and hmmm let’s just say my “lack of attention” was really showing! I runfess that I’m not surprised – I can feel I’m carrying a little extra weight on my runs – time to clean up the snacking.

Runfession #5 – I runfess that I have been stalking the Skirt Sports website as the new patterns are rolling out for the fall. I picked up these Gym Girl Ultras the other day, and may or may not have a few more items sitting in my cart waiting for check out (luckily I have a birthday coming up soon!).

There…running sole cleansed and I feel better! So tell me, what do you runfess?

  1. The humidity sure does suck the joy out of our runs! I have to admit that I am loving my run/walk intervals–they are the only way I can get through a long run. Who knew?

  2. I’ve been slogging through the humidity as well. Makes me wonder if I’ll ever be able to pick up the pace again once it cools down. Cute skirts!

  3. I’ve been such a whiner lately too but I am ready to snap out of it. I also have not been as strict on my eating lately and I think it’s showing. Oh summer you are not easy this year

  4. I feel like all I’ve been doing this summer is whine about the humidity! It’s been absolutely brutal and I must confess, my long runs are shorter because of it. I keep thinking it will get better. It has to, right???

  5. Those new skirts are really cute! I’ve been drooling over some things on their site too.

  6. I’m totally with you on the humidity this summer – I’m totally over it. As a fellow weather whiner, I feel your pain, lol. It just makes the runs miserable!

  7. I’ve been imbibing in summer cocktails too! They are definitely more caloric than what I drink in the winter. Good luck with your Wicked Half training! Have a great weekend. 🙂

  8. I haven’t been eating well this summer at all. While the scale hasn’t budged, my belly sure has… It’s gross and was very apparent during my shirtless strength training workout this morning…

  9. I completely agree! This humidity has been brutal. With less running and eating just as much like I have been as I do when I run alot more
    hasn’t been working out.

  10. Bikram Running, totally perfect! I keep hearing so many great things about Skirt Sports…I need to check them out 😉

  11. I RUNfess that I’ve been a baby about the humidity this summer! And I live in San Diego so that makes me an even bigger baby!!!

  12. Girl!! I could copy and paste this post!!

    The scale…girl!!!

I have a race in November….what a good idea to make it a goal race!!

Glad you were able to clear your

  13. Bahahah I love that somecard. That is awesome. Basically that was my life in VA and GA so I got pretty used to it! And now I am darn spoiled…

  14. I runfess that now that my big ride is done I should run more, but now we’re thinking of doing a century Oct 1 ….

  15. Love your runfessions! Glad I found your blog 🙂 hope you have a great weekend!

  16. I’ve been stalking the Skirts Sports site as well ….but I’ve vowed before I buy another running skirt, I WILL purge some of the less used items so that I can actually close my drawer without getting a hernia.

I’ve actually lost a few pounds this summer …I think it’s because I’m not running and doing more cross training. That “rungry” thing is real! I have no doubt I’ll find the few I’ve lost come Fall when my running picks back up. It’s a vicious cycle.

  17. Angela @marathonsandmotivation.com says

Running in the heat and humidity is the worst! I love the meme about it…HaHa!!! Good Luck with your training 🙂

  18. The weather has been rough here too but we just had a bit of a cold spell before this week’s heat wave. It sure makes it hard to enjoy lots of running in the humidity.

  19. This humidity is definitely a challenge, but I’d much rather have to make adjustments for it than it be winter and freezing cold.
