Please tell me I’m not the only one who feels like we’re moving at a breakneck pace through these first couple of month of 2017?!
Well, I’m always happy to take a little time out to catch up over coffee, so I’m joining Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date!
If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that we’re in the final stretch of my youngest son’s hockey season and I just can’t wait for it to be over. Trekking all over heaven and earth to stand in sub-zero arenas always wears thin on me by this point in the season (I’m mean seriously, we’ve been at it since the end of August!) Luckily the playoffs are in sight.
If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that my favorite new app is the Calm meditation app. I actually downloaded this app a while ago, but am now getting around to using it regularly. I’ve written about how much I think meditation helps me, and I think for anyone interested, this app would be a great way to get started.
If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that I finally got a copy of Run Fast. Eat Slow. (affiliate link) I feel like I’ve seen this book everywhere! I was flipping through it last night and already have a bunch of recipes I want to try, including the infamous Superhero Muffins.
Have you tried any recipes from this book?
What would you tell me over coffee?
I downloaded the Calm app as well but it seems like you have to pay more for it to do anything beyond guide your breath, am I right?? Yay for hockey season drawing to a close. Believe me, I know how a cold rink can wear on you. Hang in there and enjoy NYC!

I’ve been using the Daily Calm sessions which are free. I think there’s also a 7 Days of Calm which is also free. Haven’t decided if I want to try any of the paid sessions yet, but a friend of mine swears by the sleep program.
thank you for the book and calm app recommendation. i am sure they will add value in my life. have a lovely weekend.

Oh those first few games can be cold ones – especially the night games! My boys’ games don’t start until the end of this month.
I love this concept! Coffee with readers wherever they are. Can I do it with wine? 😉
Ha! Amy wine always works in my book!
I recommended the Calm app to one of my patients yesterday! It’s nice because you can just stare at your phone and nobody knows what you’re doing!

How cool that you recommended it to one of your patients!
Oh, wow, I didn’t realize you’re still going to be in NYC. When are you going? Where are you staying? I’d love to meet you! I’m going to dust off that cookbook (literally!) once my kitchen is done!

We’re headed there next weekend instead of the race weekend – big difference in hotel prices without St. Patrick’s Day!
Ooo- do tell me about those superhero muffins! Why am I the only one who hasn’t heard?! I have to laugh about the hockey! I was secretly praying that my boys don’t LOVE hockey so I wouldn’t have to freeze and have crazy ice-times! They are still young, so I am still praying!

Barrie I have to tell you I use to wish for the same thing when my boys were younger! Hopefully, you’ll have better luck than I did 😉
I jealous of your upcoming visit to NYC. I can’t wait until I can afford to go back for a visit. I lived there for 9 months is ’05/’06, and sometimes I miss it.
Hockey season is crazy long! That meme cracks me up and reminds me of my favorite hockey mom, my sister. 🙂

I lived in NYC too for almost 7 years – don’t get back nearly as often as I would like!
So jealous of you. I’ve never been to NYC before. I’m planning to visit Times Square this year.

It’s such a great city – so much to do and see!
gosh, I remember my Mom driving my brother around when we were kids during hockey season, oh the memories! I have seen a couple people post about the Calm app- I may need to give it a look see. Thanks for sharing!

I remember my mom driving my brother all over the place for hockey too. It’s funny how some things repeat themselves.
I’ve heard so many great things about Run Fast Eat Slow. You’ll have to let us know if the Superhero Muffins are as good as everyone says!
I hope you have a really fun time in NYC even though you won’t be able to run the race. Were you able to defer the race to next year?
Have a great week!

Luckily I was able to defer so at least I’ve already got one race set for 2018 😉
Yes, 2017 is moving for sure! But, I’m happy in a way about it…I think.
Have fun in NYC! I can’t wait to be back later this year for the marathon. Sucks you have to sit out the half, but the city is so fun!
Never heard of the Calm app, I’ll have to check it out and see if I like it. Sounds interesting. And, I’ve heard great things about Shalane’s book. I need to get a copy.

Wow, I didn’t realize that hockey season was so long!
I’ll have to check out the Calm app. I have struggled with meditation but I’m interested in learning how I can use it in my daily life.
And as amazing as that cookbook looks, I’m so lazy I’m sure it would take me months to actually prepare something, ugh!
