Well January’s come to an end. I feel like these first 31 days of 2016 moved at a break-neck pace, leaving me feeling like I was constantly playing catch up. I got to this weekend and just wanted to exhale.
So today I’m once again joining Holly and Tricia for the Weekly Wrap – but this time, I’m wrapping up the whole month.
- Overall the weather for January was not too bad – New England actually avoided taking the brunt of a Nor’easter for a change and on many days the temps were downright mild — All this means more runs outdoors than on the ‘mill.
- One of my 2016 goals is staying committed to strength training – This month was a really good start logging at least 2 workouts per week.
- A return to the massage table – Say it with me…Ahhhh!
- Thanks to a crazed schedule, more missed runs than I’d like to count. And, the runs I did log just left me feeling meh.
- IT Band, while improving, is still a little moody 🙁
- More miles – despite the schedule, Runs. Must. Happen!
- Joining Mar for her 14-day Self Care Challenge – love this idea to remember to put yourself on the to do list. The challenge starts on February 1 – join us!
- Time for some Focus – as in T25 Focus. I was
whining….mentioning to my brother the other day about how annoyed I was with myself to have let some workouts slide and he mentioned he was thinking about doing T25 again just to make sure he got in a daily workout. So I’ve decided to join him… for the next 10 weeks (Hello!)
So I’m more than ready to say buh bye to January and to make February fabulous!
How was your January?
Glad to hear your ITB is calming down. My PF is down to a dull roar as well. Seems like if I stretch out my achilles and calves, I actually can walk pretty well after a run.
Baby steps, right?

Yea for the dull roar! Baby steps indeed…we’ll get there!
Sounds like you had a pretty good month over all. And, a new month means it will be time for our coffee date soon. 😉

Always fun…but we’ve got to find a way to make one of these coffee dates live and in person 🙂
SO glad you’re joining me for 14 days of self!! Hopefully that can help get those runs back on track 🙂 you’ve reminded me that I’m due for a massage!!

I’m looking forward to the 14 days – thanks for hosting!
You did such a great job in getting in two strength training sessions a week! For me, part of January was awesome — yay, I ran a marathon! But since, I’ve been struggling with recovering the ITB. It’s left me very “meh” about training and my almost non-existent racing schedule for 2016. I need to practice patience I guess. Have fun with with T25. Thanks for linking with us Michelle!

Thanks Holly! I’m sorry your ITB is still giving you trouble – really is an evil body part.
I know I am due for a massage. My shoulders have been so tight lately. I love that you’re doing T25 with your BIL – very cool! And I’ll be joining you for Mar’s challenge!

Great that you’ll be doing Mar’s challenge – perfect excuse to schedule that massage 😉
We also escaped the massive snowstorm here in Pittsburgh. Exciting about T25! 10 weeks is a serious program! I’d love to do something like that when I’m not in intense training like I am now. Happy February!
I figure now’s the perfect time to take on T25 before the mileage for training increases. Glad you were able to dodge the snow too!
Nice that you guys got a break from the storm, we sure didn’t in Philly! Glad to see that you’re running, hopefully you’ll have fewer “meh” runs this month! I’m doing the self-care challenge too – so desperately needed!

Enjoy the challenge – I think it will be good for all of us!
Yay for the Nor’EAster not hitting your area so hard! Ahh a massage would be nice! T25 is an awesome workout! Love that they are only 25 minutes! Have a great week!

Can’t argue with 25 minutes, right? Have a great week!
We all missed a few runs due to crazy weather this month I think. It’s a whole new month to start over right?!

Thank goodness for the new month! Happy February 🙂
I feel like January flew! We had our share of sub-z temps but overall it was much milder than the polar vortex nonsense we had the past couple of years. Wow 10 weeks of T25! So cool you’re doing that with your bro!

The whole 10 week thing sounded like a good idea at the time…talk to me in a few weeks and we’ll see if I still feel this way 😉
I can’t believe it’s February already. January was such a whirlwind and I definitely fell off the workout train towards the end of the month because of work and travel. I hope your IT band starts to feel better!
Thanks Christine!
Sounds like a busy month! Good for you to join your brother this month in doing T25! Hope you have a great February!

Thanks Sherry! Happy February!
Yes new month and it started on a Monday. New challenge with Mar. It’s shaping up to be a great month. I didn’t realize T25 was 25 mins sounds doable. It’s hard to squeeze in some of those hour long workouts. Great job on your goals and keeping up.
I can never figure out how people do those hr long workouts – especially with running too!
strength training is great! Mine has not been absent, but definitely needs a recharge! I did a planking challenge in November (with great results), and I do planking everyday…but I think I need to do a little bit more of that as well. Thanks for the reminder!!

Daily planking is a great practice! Reminds me I’ve let those slide lately.
I’m working through some overuse injuries as well. Boo! I hate when that gets in the way of training. Hoping February is better.

Oh Wendy is stinks that you’ve been dealing with injuries. Here’s hoping we both have a better February!
When I say your comment about a return to the massage table, I immediately was like, it’s been way to long since I have been to one, I may have to make a plan to do that soon:)
Hope you IT quits bothering you for good so you can go out and enjoy the active life you love!
Good luck with your 14 day challenge!!!

Thanks so much Kristy!
January flew by! I haven’t had a massage in a long time. That sounds very relaxing! Hope your IT band pain improves.
