With temps now dancing just below 90, it is safe to say that summer has officially arrived! After such a brutal winter (yes, I think I’m still traumatized), I am not going to complain about the heat and look forward to making the most of the summer months ahead.
Courtney, Mar & Cynthia have invited everyone to share their favorite summer activities for this week’s #FridayFive linkup, so here are a few of my faves.
Beach: When you say summer to me, one of the first thing that comes to mind is hitting the beach! I can’t wait to get in some day trips to one of my favorite beaches.
Hiking: Hiking is another popular family activity. A well-shaded trail is a welcome escape on a hot summer day.
Farmer’s Markets: I could spend all Saturday morning at our local farmers market – great produce, cheeses, wine and other great local finds – nothing better!
Dining alfresco: Whether at home on our deck or at a favorite restaurant, there’s something about dining outdoors that I just love – I just want to slow down and linger.
Lazing a day away: Sometimes my favorite activity in the summer is no activity. We’re always so go-go-go in the RWA household, and summer gives us a chance to just hang out. Sometimes doing a whole lot of nothing is perfect!
I am with you on all of these things. I really, truly think summers the very best time of year. I never want it to end! And I am still traumatized by last winter, too!

Summer has clearly come early and is here to stay! I do love the farmer’s market so I will definitely have to see what I can find! I love dining out on patios as well.

Love the beach this time of year! What are your favorites around the area? When I lived in Mansfield we went to the beach in Sharon a lot, and when I lived in Quincy I was over at Wollaston a lot. I also love visiting Walden Pond this time of year – it’s such a great place to get in a nice long swim.

Yes! Dining outside is so nice, isn’t it? I’m hopeful we can do this tomorrow, after my husband’s triathlon; he can pig out and I can enjoy the view – ha! 😉 I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Michelle!

Farmers Markets! Yes! I always forget what days they are in our neighborhood, but I want to do a better job of getting them on the calendar and making sure to take advantage of them.
Have a great weekend!

My list is very similar! Somehow I missed outdoor festivals and concerts which are huge here in Chicago!

I need to find a farmer’s market that’s closer to home. Now I have to choose between running and the farmer’s market and running always wins out. I know your winter sucked, but the 90s already is pretty brutal too.

Summer really IS here, isn’t it? I’m trying really hard not to complain about the heat but the humidity? That I could live without! I love all of the things on your list!

Couldn’t agree more! I love going to farmers markets, everything just seems so fresh and lovely – especially when they have exotic fruits and vegetables.
Yes!!! I especially love lazing the day away. There aren’t a ton of those opportunities but I take them when I can!
