For Valentine’s Day, the co-moderators of #Runchat are encouraging everyone to share ten reasons why you love running. Fun idea! So following their lead here are my ten, in no particular order:
ย I love……
- …working through whatever is going on in my head at the moment – there is no better therapy!
- …the burn in my quads after 1600 repeats on the track.
- …that each run is unique, no two days of running are ever alike.
- …the elation and pride of crossing the finish line of a half marathon.
- …guilt-free eating after a long run.
- …being greeted by my kids as I come through the door with “How far did you run today mom?”
- …connecting with people from all over through this common bond/addiction/obsession.
- …the way my jeans fit.
- …setting goals – big and small, both mental and physical – then blasting through them.
- …redefining my strong!
It still surprises me how in such a short time since I’ve started running, how much it has become a part of me. There was a time when I could never imagine running as much as I do… and now I cannot imagine not running!
What do you love about running? What would you miss if you couldn’t?
Great list! And so many of them apply to me too. I am just not the same person w/o running in my life. It means so much to me!
I so needed to see this today! It’s snowing out and I had thoughts about staying indoors…but I can’t wait to cross my first half-marathon finish line!
Thanks for sharing!
Yay for the first half marathon!! Good luck!
Love the post/list and just like you I have only been running for such a short time and it such a part of me. Got told by husband(none runner) this weekend I am addicted to running, didn’t even have a reply.
Love the list Michelle! I can relate to so many of these….running I feel has made me a better version of myself!!
Awesome. Love reading everyone’s list. Posting mine tomorrow.
That’s an awesome list – so many great reasons to run.
Here was mine: http://www.livelaughrunbreathe.com/2012/02/10-reasons-i-love-running.html
What a great post – love it! Running truly changed my life. It made me realize anything is possible if I set my mind to it! Plus runners are the nicest people ๐
Love your post… especially the way the jeans fit comment! So true! ๐

Love the list. Thanks for posting, and thanks for your #runchat support!
Wonderful post, Michelle. Running has made me a happier person. ๐
Love the list.
Like the list and can relate. Running takes me to a place that is mine….that makes me feel complete and no one can take that away from me.
I can’t imagine NOT running either. I wouldn’t be me.
My kids always ask me if I won – even if I was just out running by myself. My answer is always yes. ;o)
Love your list!
Wonderful post Michelle!
I hear you on the guilt free eating, and you’re exactly right that no two runs are the same : )
Great post! I agree with all of the above… love that it’s something just for “me” — no worries about my daughter (unless she’s along in the stroller!)
Love your list! I love the confidence that running has given me! I’ve done so many things – like marathon running – I never thought I’d do.
