Five Bucket List Races and Fitness Events

For a runner or fitness enthusiast, there’s no shorter of races or events to capture your imagination! For this week’s Fit Five Friday, I’m  sharing five races and fitness experiences that are high on my bucket list.

Fit Five Friday: Five Bucket List Races and Fitness Events

Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run

The Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run in Washington, D.C., is a springtime classic that I’ve long wanted to experience. When my boys were playing lacrosse,  schedules never aligned to make this race possible, but with them both in college now I’m hoping to make this race a reality.

Broad Street Run

The Broad Street Run is another 10-mile race high on my list. The course is a straight shot down Broad Street, running through the heart of Philadelphia, and is one of the most popular road races in the country. It’s a race that celebrates the spirit of Philly, and I can’t wait to be a part of it!

BolderBoulder 10K

The BolderBoulder 10K in Colorado is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of community, fitness, and fun. With live music, great spectators, and a finish in the University of Colorado’s Folsom Field, this race offers an unforgettable experience. The altitude and the energy of Boulder make it a unique challenge I’m eager to take on.

NYC Half Marathon

Running through the streets of New York City is always special, and the NYC Half Marathon is no exception. The course takes you through Times Square, Central Park, and other iconic spots, all while soaking in the energy of the city. It’s a perfect way to experience NYC’s vibrant atmosphere while tackling a challenging but manageable distance.

Peloton Studios, NYC

While not a traditional race, a live class at Peloton Studios in NYC is a fitness experience I’m eager to check off my list. The energy of being in the studio with one of my favorite Peloton instructors coaching would be an awesome experience!

Fit Five Friday – Five Places I Want to Run

Welcome back to another edition of Fit Five Friday! Today, we’re talking about places you want to run.  So let’s embark on a virtual journey to five breathtaking destinations where I’m itching to lace up my running shoes and hit the ground running. From exotic coastlines to picturesque countryside, I think these locations would be great places to both vacation and run.

Fit Five Friday – Five Places I want to Run

1. Maui, Hawaii: Hawaii has been on my bucketl list for a while – so why not run while I’m there, right? Picture yourself running along the sun-kissed shores of Maui, with the gentle sound of waves crashing against the golden sand. Whether you’re exploring the lush trails of Haleakalā National Park or tracing the scenic coastline along the Hana Highway, Maui offers a paradise for runners seeking both tranquility and tropical beauty.

2. Big Sur, California, USA: While I’ve driven and hiked along the beautiful coastline of California I haven’t run there. Running the winding roads that hug the cliffsides and taking in the breathtaking panoramas of the Pacific Ocean seems like a winning combination!

3. Lake District, England: Tucked in the northwest corner of England, the Lake District beckons with its rolling hills, shimmering lakes, and quaint villages. Although I haven’t done much trail running, I think it would be hard to not want to explore the network of trails that wind through this UNESCO World Heritage site.

4. Vancouver, Canada: I got to briefly visit Vancouver last summer, as it was the port we sailed out of for our Alaskan cruise. In the brief time we were there I instantly fell in love with the natural beauty and charm of this vibrant city. I’d love to get back there to spend more time and take a run along the scenic seawall that encircles Stanley Park – great views of the city skyline and snow-capped mountains in the distance. I’d also like to explore the Pacific Spirit Regional Park for a peaceful run amidst towering trees and babbling creeks.

5. Côte d’Azur, France: It’s been years since I’ve been in the south of France – and when I was there I wasn’t a runner. How amazing would it be to run along the stunning coastline of the Côte d’Azur with views of the sparkling Mediterranean Sea stretching out before you – need I say more?!

I could certainly go on and on, but I stop there! So many places so little time 🙂

Where would you like to run?

Run Utah – A Giveaway!

I’m telling you that there’s nothing worse than receiving an invitation to a great destination race and not be able to take advantage of it! Such is the case with the Utah Valley Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K.

Utah is just beautiful, isn’t it?

When I think of traveling to Utah my first thoughts turn towards skiing and  memories of a great family vacation we had there. We always said we wanted to head back, so when I got an email from the nice folks at Utah Valley Marathon, I knew this would be a trip I’d have no problem convincing my husband to take!

A few reasons to run:

  • The Utah Valley Marathon was named a TOP 10 race in America by Runner’s World Magazine in 2014
  • In honor of their 10th anniversary, they’re handing out race jackets instead of a T-shirt
  • A fast downhill course – no uphill people! (the marathon is a Boston qualifier)
  • Offers a marathon, half marathon, and 10K options, plus a kids 1K

Sounds great right? So why am I not booking my flights…because come June 10th, we will be in the thick of a lacrosse tournament in the RWA household. And, given that I’m helping to coordinate the tourney, disappearing for a race is just not in the cards. But I’ve already penciled it in for 2018 🙂 (Did I mention no uphills!)

So what’s a girl to do with a race entry she can’t use? Host a giveaway of course 🙂 I’ve actually got not one but two entries!

Want to run the Utah Valley Marathon/Half Marathon/10k? Then enter below – or, if you’re just ready to register, you can use code rwa15 to get 15% off any distance! (This is an affiliate code.)

Disclaimer: I received the two free race entries and discount code courtesy of the Utah Valley Marathon. I will receive a small payment for all registrations made using my discount code.
