Christmas Week Run Down

Happy Sunday!

That sound you hear is me exhaling and settling into a staycation week off! This past week was a mad sprint to wrap-up projects and put out work fires (there seem to be far too many of those lately) and to put in the final touches to get ready for Christmas.

Workout wise there were a lot of Peloton holiday-themed classes, another virtual race, and a Christmas run “with” friends. Here’s the run down….

(from the drive-through light show we visited this week)

Christmas Week Run Down

Monday — Monday was oh so…Monday and my workout never happened.

Tuesday — Peloton 20-minute ride & full-body strength.

Wednesday — Peloton Holiday Slow Flow Yoga.

Thursday — Peloton 30-minute ride and core.

Friday — A Christmas run with friends! Earlier in the week, Kim (KookyRunner) invited Kim (Running on the Fly) and me to join her for a virtual run on Christmas morning. While the weather was oh so stormy, making this a treadmill run – I was still happy to be running “with” friends!

Thanks to Kim for the collage

Saturday — BAA virtual 10K. 2nd race in the #FinishStrongChallenge. The morning was bright and windy, and the miles were easy.

Sunday –– Peloton 25-minute ride and core.

Christmas was a low-keyed affair, given the times, but it was still a good day with much to be grateful for. And, now we’ve entered into one of my favorites weeks for the year. I have always enjoyed the week between Christmas and the new year – a great time to relax, reflect and recharge.

How was your week? Did you have a nice Christmas?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

The Last Coffee Date of 2019

Happy Friday!

We’ve reached that time of the year where we are in the “last of’s” – as in last this or that for the year (or decade!). And, today, marks the last Ultimate Coffee Date of 2019. This is always one of my favorite link-ups – a big thanks to both Deborah and Coco for hosting! So grab a mug of your fave hot beverage and let’s chat.

December’s Ultimate Coffee Date

Over coffee, I would tell you that I’m already feeling behind on my Christmas planning! I blame it on a combination of Thanksgiving being a week later this year (I never start anything Christmas related until after Thanksgiving) and struggling for gift ideas for the family – especially my boys. Shopping for teenage boys is hard!

Over coffee, I would tell you that despite feeling woefully behind, I am really looking forward to enjoying the Christmas season. I’ll be off from work from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day and plan to fully embrace that time to relax and recharge.

Over coffee, I would tell you that I have been selected as a BibRave Pro for 2020! I’m very excited to be a part of this team and am looking forward to a fun year.

And, speaking of BibRave…The BibRave 100 was revealed this week and I was happy to see some of my favorites made the cut, including the Newport 10 Miler and the Ocean Road 10K – both of which are on my calendar for 2020. You can check out the complete list at  www.thebibrave100.com

So, what would you tell me over coffee?

Weekly Wrap: Ready for the Holidays

Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

I’m just getting in from a walk with the pup – he needed to burn off some energy and I needed a break from all the holiday-prepping. So before I dive into wrapping gifts, I thought I’d quickly join Wendy and Holly for the Weekly Wrap. Be sure to stop by and show both of these great ladies some blog love!

Monday – The day was all about ticking as much off my work to do list as possible. I did manage to squeeze in a quick mile walk to keep my Holiday Challenge streak going.

Tuesday – 4-mile run. There was a wind advisory – it was brutal so yeah this run was finished on the mill. I also had another session with the acupuncturist.

Wednesday – A nice change of pace at work had me out scouting a location for a charity race. 6-miles of trails done!

Thursday – The weather was picture perfect as I met up with Coach Marc for a 5 miler. We ran a beautiful rolling course which gave us a chance to work on hill technique.

Friday – After a brief check-in at work, my vacation officially began!  I logged a quick mile walk before meeting a friend for lunch and shopping.

Saturday – I was up and out early with my husband for 5 miles before a full day of cleaning and cooking.

Including today’s trek with the pup, I logged 23.25 miles this week and reached Day 32 of the Holiday Challenge!

Given how hectic this week was, I’m really pretty pleased with how the workouts went. Today is also my last day of the 6-week FASTer Way to Fat Loss program, so I’ll be sharing some final thoughts on the program in an upcoming post.

For now, I am really looking forward to Christmas and some time off with my family. With the hopefully slower pace of the days ahead, I’ll get a chance to get back to the strength training that’s been missing for the past couple of weeks, in addition to continuing to log some miles. And catch up on some sleep…yes, sleep would be good!

To everyone who celebrates, I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Last coffee date of 2016

Believe it or not we’ve reached the last coffee date of 2016. So grab a mug of your fave beverage and join in on this fun link-up hosted by Coco and Deborah!

The Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that my new TV guilty pleasure is Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party. Yes that would be Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg. I can’t tell you exactly what it is about this combination, but it does put a smile on my face!

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that I signed up for the Winter Warrior Challenge – the challenge is to run or walk a mile a day for the month of January. This is the first year the challenge allows for treadmill miles, but only outdoor miles count towards prizes. My goal is to stick to the outdoors. Should be a fun way to add a little extra motivation to start 2017, and all the proceeds go to charity!

If we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that I’m not looking forward to trying to wrangle my sons today for a decent picture for my holiday cards. But, I need to get them done and off to Shutterfly as quickly as possible, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they smile and cooperate!

skisIf we were having coffee together, I’d tell you that I’m looking forward to starting to decorate the house today for Christmas. We probably won’t get the tree until next week, but today is all about lights, wreaths, poinsettias, etc. If I’m feeling ambitious I may take on a project I spotted last year and paint a pair of old skis red to put my front porch. This is what I’m going for… wish me luck!

So what would you tell me over coffee?
