An early week snowstorm, a very long week at work, poor sleep, and a less than happy hip left me feeling very “off” this week. Here’s a quick rundown on the week’s workouts:
Weekly Run Down
Monday — Bosu workout.
Tuesday — Snow day – shoveling was my workout!
Wednesday — Orangetheory Fitness
Thursday — Lots of black ice had me hitting the gym early with my husband for 3 miles on the mill. I also made a trip to my massage therapist for some work on my hip.
Friday — The crazy week at work and poor sleep seriously caught up with me so I took a pass on my run and focused on some core work instead.
Saturday — Orangetheory – while this early morning workout was a bit of a shock to the system I loved the “seven bells a ringing” theme which included a lot of upper body work.
Sunday — Chocolate Marshmallow 5K – I had originally registered for the 10K, but as the week wore on I had it on my mind to drop down to the 5K. It was the right call – recap to come.
Despite feeling like I was on the struggle bus a good bit of the week, I am happy that I got in the workouts I did to keep the #HolidaySweat Challenge going. There wasn’t much running and I’m fine with that – I’ve wanted to mix up my workouts more, plus there’s always a little running during Orangetheory.
So tell me something about your week.
I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

I did not have the best week of sleep either! Sweet dreams to both of us this week
Here’s hoping we both catch some ZZZ’s!
Can we talk about sleep? I am so tired. I haven’t been sleeping well at all lately. I have to figure it out.
Nice job on that race and I love that INB pullover!
If you find something that works on the sleep front please share and I’ll do likewise!
Glad the 5K went well. Shoveling snow can take a lot out of you. Is that an InknBurn top? It’s fantastic!
Yep it’s an INB – I just love their stuff!
The #holidaysweat challenge is also holding me accountable and I love that.
Sounds like you made the right call on dropping down to the 5K. My sleep was also awful this week, but I had a lot of stress at work so I’m sure there is a correlation there
Sorry to hear about the work stress…this lack of sleep thing seems to be a common theme
Hope things settle down for you!
First off, that jacket for your race is to die for! LOVE it! Second, the past couple days have had me feeling a bit groggy, too. Last night I was nodding off during the Big 10 championship game, for crying out loud LOL I’m excited to hear more about that race…as I said on Insta, I love the name of it!
Thanks on the top – it’s one of my all-time favorites!
Interesting that you’ve been feeling groggy too – a number of people have mentioned having sleep issues…how odd is that!
So much shoveling last week (even with Mr. Judy manning t he snowblower).
Chocolate Marshmallow 5k — that sounds like the kind of race I want to do! Curious to hear about it.
Hope everything feels a lot better this week, Michelle.
It’s funny but I thought once my husband finally broke down and bought a snowblower that the shoveling would come to an end…not so much! LOL!
Sounds like a tough week. When I don’t sleep well, it seems to make everything else so much harder. You still go in a really good variety of work outs! Hope the sleep goes better this week
Thank you, Chaitali
sometimes it’s just about pushing through and the struggle bus seems like it didn’t win this round! hope you are having a better week already!
You’re so right Renée, sometimes it is about just pushing through.
Snow shoveling is definitely a workout.
I usually just opted to walk to work instead when it snowed (also because I didn’t want to drive in the snow). I’ve since moved back to CA though.
I love that jacket!
I can understand opting to walk – the driving post-snow was just crazy!
Don’t be mad, but I do love that snow!
Not too much new over here. I’m just hanging in my bed with my leg up. No big deal LOL.
Funny thing is Jenn I actually don’t mind the snow – it’s so pretty…I just don’t want to shovel it LOL
Hope your hip is ok and the massage works wonders. Love that Ink n Burn top!
Thanks Marcia – the muscles around my hip have just been so cranky lately, but thankfully a massage always seems to help.
Work was insane for me last week as well, I missed dinner for three days straight. I hope your hip is OK.
Wow that does sound like a hectic week! Hope this week’s quieter for you.
I have not done Bosu in so long! I used to love it. I counted shoveling as my upper body workout last week too!!!
I hadn’t been on the Bosu in forever – I really need to use it more often!
Sorry things have been tricky but I’d totally count shovelling snow as a workout. Of course we do it so rarely here it completely flattens us with DOMS for days!
Oh yes, the shoveling gets my shoulders every time – DOMS for days!
I LOVE Bosu workouts. SO good for runners stability & balance! Love that INKnBURN pullover!
Thanks Heather – that top is one of my faves
